Most Despised Microsoft R&D:

Please stop thinking Lame-ass names for your products. Xbox 360 and Windows Vista sound like kitchen appliances, not electronic/computer products.

By releasing a new OS, you contradict the notion that XP is the "Most advanced, stable and useful OS to date" which is what you said when you launched it.

Not caring one bit,

Spec.

Yeah, MS really needs to fire their damn advertising agency (or agencies). I haven't seen a good MS ad.....ever.

Though I also don't care about a new OS, I don't see how this is the case. Most advanced to date != most advanced of all time, past, present and future. They never claimed that XP was the best OS that would ever be released, they just claimed it was the best at the time.

Is it called vista because the never ending development lifetime is far on the horizon?

Seriously - they need to shut up about it, nobody cares until its nearly ready.

Or because of the never ending bugs?

At least it's a word this time. It really sucks that whoever thought up "eXPerience" gets paid a shitload more money than I do.

And I don't see this having much of an impact, at least for awhile... especially since all the key features won't even ship with it at launch.

- Joe User will keep whatever was installed on his computer (plus whatever spyware and pirated software he's collected over the years)
- Businesses won't upgrade until like 2012
- Mac users won't give a shit
- Linux users will maintain their annual tradition of proclaiming this the Year of the Linux Desktop (and then divide themselves into two camps: those that say it's already ready for the desktop, and those who say it never will be because of fragmenation and too many choices)

^^ You might want to add:

-Spec will keep Win2k on his system since it works just fine, and doesn't suck.

I wish I didn't suck at Linux

I'll probably give SUSE another try, anyone know where I can download the updates?

I've looked at the official site and nothing is there for SUSE Personal

I still have Suse Personal 9.1 atm(shame my laptop doesn't support certain things, damn ATI card)

btw anyone had any experience with Linspire(Linux)

I'd stick with SUSE personally. I've tried all of them - it's the most practical and least effort to use.

Thanks bloodflowers, I'll need to get an ethernet for my connection next, not sure how it will work with BT (driverwise)

I personally don't use it, but PCLinuxOS always seems to get rave reviews for being simple and easy to use. It comes as a live CD, so there's really no risk if you want to try it out.

I've never used Linspire, but I know it to be the most Windows-like Linux distribution out there. Take that for what it's worth.
