For all you Alien Breed fans of the original Amiga game that were a little disappointed with the first new Alien Breed (Impact), Assault is a much better effort in recreating the original experience.
At the start you won't notice much differences to the first part as the graphics and game mechanics are almost identical. But the levels are far less repetitive now and also they are much bigger so you will play longer on the Story Mode.
On the down side the Story Mode is a little easier than in the first game because of the added item shop where you can buy healthkits and ammo in huge ammounts.
Another big letdown in the first game was that the replay value was close to zero once you finished Story Mode. Now they added the Survivor Mode which consists of three endless levels with nonstop action. These are really the heart of the game imo and much fun. Also they feel more like the original Amiga games with their constant swarms of Aliens and ammo shortage.
At first you won't stand a chance and get overrun in a few minutes. But the more you play you get the feeling for the game and every time you die you think it could have been better and are off for the next try. Just like in the old days

And now the real reason I started this thread is of course to vaunt in my glorious achievement of taken first place in Survivor Levels 1 and 2. 3 coming tomorrow (hopefully)

So if you have the chance try the demo and buy the game if you like it. I want to have some real competition in the leaderboards
