I'm pretty sure if you just move your stick in random directions and press buttons you'll automatically 1cc it if it's on 0*0...

I believe 1ccing is hardest on 0*0, as you cannot get anywhere near the amount of extends as 99*99, and the amount of deaths does not decrease much. Arrange is harder than novice.

It certainly does. I get much more enjoyment out of any ESPGaluda 2 mode than all of the Futari ones combined.

Anyhow, is there any way to get Asagi to not suck giant ass in Arrange mode? Both of her shots are atrocious and take forever to switch between them. Is there some good strategy with her/him?
Play as Tateha. Asagi's kakusei shots are too narrow to be good over mode, and her normal mode shots are narrow unless there's a lot of enemies oncreen, at which point her lasers become slightly useful. If you're looking for an Asagi specific thing, the best you can do is constant lasers in normal, and then weave like crazy with shot in over. You also can't suicide anywhere near as often to get more gems, because you get fewer extends. She is pretty much impossible to get much out of in arrange mode. I believe the WR for Asagi arrange is lower than my current Tateha arrange score.
I think Asagi is real good for boss milking. You can drag her across the screen so that her option's shots fill up the entire screen and then just stay in place milking. I get about 50 mil from the stage 3 midboss using this method. Wait til your gold depletes until about 30 then flip back into normal mode. Build some gems, flip again at the end.

I got it in the mail finally.

I've beaten the game with all the characters on normal and arrange. I love how arrange is very much like Ikaruga.

I have yet to try out black label but I'm looking forward to it.

Also I didn't know it came with soundtrack. That was a pleasant surpirse.

That's impressive work! I've been playing it for months and cannot beat 360 normal mode with ANY of the characters yet. Starting to get to the final boss more consistently though. ;)

Am I imagining things or is there a different amount of slowdown, i.e. noticeably less, once you install the game to your hdd?

Late to this party, but my copy arrived today.

After spending an hour or so with it...I'm a little underwhelmed. I know it's mostly a matter of taste, but I can't get into the characters, the scoring system (to be fair, I'm not 100% confident in my understanding), the music or the gameplay. I felt a real rush in the first few runs, but it became a little generic after about 30 minutes. And, chances are I'm doing it all completely wrong, but the bosses take forever to take down. Maybe I'm spoiled with Futari's no-nonsense system, art style and music, but...I've give it a week or so to see if it grows on me. FWIW, I never played the first Espgaluda, but I loved Esprade.

Time to hit the strat thread. :D

Do that. Learning more about how the game works can really help to enhance your enjoyment, much like many CAVE games. But this and DeathSmiles more than any others feel like the ones where understanding all the different modes really makes for more enjoyment and striving for better plays.

If you haven't played the game more than a week you're not going to grasp the scoring system.

Hey guys, quick question concerning the region free 360 port. I'm definitely planning on purchasing this game in the future. Right now, though, I'm still playing a lot of Mushi Futari and have preordered Deathsmiles (in addition to a few non-shmups I'm currently playing), so I don't need to start a new game anytime soon.

My question is: do I need to hurry up and at least purchase the game, even if I don't plan to play it for a while? My wife isn't too happy about me buying games at import prices, especially since I just bought a HRAP EX, so I'd like to put it off if possible. My concern is that it will be hard to find and the price will go up if I wait. NCSX has it in stock still, and it looks like Playasia is still getting copies. Should I be concerned about waiting to purchase?

As far as availability is concerned, things look just fine for 360 titles. I don't think you have to stress about getting it asap... keep the wife happy and spend the money on something you'll both enjoy (or bills! lol). I don't have any solid info to back this up, but Galuda2 didn't sell as well as Deathsmiles or Futari so there are probably still a bunch of copies which haven't shipped to exporters.

The X360 Cave shooter should be available new from retailers at least 1 year from release. After that, it's anyone's guess.
Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label is out of print (went OOP roughly 1 year from release), and unavailable new from retailers. But the rest are still available.

Daifukkatsu is on 360?

In all seriousness, I don't think the availability of a 5pb-published title has anything to do at all with a Cave-published title. A closer barometer would be Deathsmiles, which received a second print run under the Platinum Hits label at a lower price about a year after release - but even then, there's simply no way to know for sure. I don't even think Cave makes that decision until that year is up.

Yeah, DOJ was what had me worried to begin with, I guess. Wasn't thinking about it being a different publisher.

Sounds like I should be safe for a least a few months, then. Thanks!

The publisher won't matter much - the vertical Cave shooters get similar print runs. Most people seem to think Cave publishes all of these ports anyway.

Just got the game and the bonus soundtrack, and something that has been irking me for the past 20 minutes:
I know that the soundtrack was composed by Namiki and Kaneda. The question is: who did what tracks, specifically? Using Google has so far been as helpful as shouting at my computer.

(edit: never mind, question answered)

I currently have the number 8 spot on the leaderboard for Black Label Novice with a replay, if anybody wants to see me chain through the game like a spazz. It shows a different approach to the 1st lvl

Today I had a time and went in a game place to play this again.
And this time I found this game very but very hard. The bullets comes down with very fast speed. Kakusei Zetsushikaidasilva do the game even harder.
Give up!

Did anyone else have problems with the "1cc Omake" achievement which didn't unlock after I 1cc'd Omake mode minutes ago...?! :-(

Bump of awesomeness! Image

Did anyone try playing Omake! in 2 player mode? I thought about it, and unlike the other modes, Kakusei etc shouldn't ruin the fun at all, as you can basically play the whole game through without ever needing it. Also, taking down bosses faster should make the game quicker. Please don't tell me this mode is 1 player only?

That's a good question about Omake being 2P. I've never though to give it a try. I've played through Arrange a couple of times 2P, it never goes as well as I would hope. I've always had to continue once.. :( It's 'cause my dumb ass is trying to keep the other player alive in the hope of having a dual clear.. Still it's fun and hectic, give it a try.

Why does the game not let me choose a storage device/autosave/etc? Am I missing something? All I did was choose screen (TATE) and the link option (so controls shift to TATE as well), then I zoomed the screen in to fit my rotated LCD. For some reason, the settings are not saved. I tried deleting the game and re-installing it (I am using a different console from that I originally installed it on), to no avail. Help! It's a pain in the ass to redo the settings each time, and it is not saving my scores.....maybe I chose something off the bat that f-ed up the save stuff? I am at a total loss here, scanned this massive thread and found nothing so far. I am playing 360 mode by the way.

Curious... you don't get any messages upon hitting Start at the menu? Mine asks for the storage device without fail.

On an aside, you probably want to clear your VJ Army/pop'n Navy links, they ceased to exist a few months back.

For those still wondering, Omake! is indeed a 2p mode! Hooked up two controllers, logged in to two accounts and I could start a 1P game then "join in" with the second controller. Next time I have a shmup inclined friend over, I'm forcing him to try it with me. We once tried ESPGALUDA in 2P and it was a nightmare of failed Kakusei.

That's exactly how I would describe my own attempts to play the first Espg with my friend. It was also the second time I launched the game at all. :D

After taking a short break from shmups, I think I'm ready to get back into it. This would be my game of choice at the moment to purchase since I don't have a J360. Looking at play-asia and ncsx, though, I see that both are out of stock but expecting more (usually ships within 4-7 days or something). Is 4-7 days actually likely? Or should I just buy from someone on ebay?

I would prefer to buy from ncsx (I purchased Mushihimesama Futari from them a while back with no problems whatsoever) but I would hate to place the order only to have it not ship soon at all. Can anyone with some experience here help me out? Thanks!
