If they are sub-60 fps, that's more of a problem.

So I guess it's time for Silent Bomber (PSN release perchance?) to remind people how high speed ownage TPP action should be done (being more accessible than Virtual-On and all that).

I dunno. I can deal with some technical shortcomings, when the game rocks this hard.

Dude, don't puke up the Vanquish thread with more of this 30/60 fps crap. If you can't let it go, you're gonna have to change your avatar to this...

This is basically where I'm at. Once I figured out I could power-slide in slo-mo, and that my melee could hit like 5 people at once (there's only one spot in the demo I know where you can dependably pull this off, but still...), I realized this was video game crack.

The other issues just don't seem particularly significant to me.

My fps-related job in this thread is done already. I've got limited bitchment resources which I must manage wisely. As for you lot, if you have to bitch about something, framerate in this case is more relevant than sub-HD-ness and you know it.

Somebody said the game didn't feel like HD in parts and somebody confirmed this information. Nobody is bitching about anything.

The new "challenge demo" is up on the Japanese PSN. Don't know about 360 yet.
We may be getting it in the U.S. and Europe soon also. Well, that's what IGN said.

It's a bonus level that you get after you beat the main game. It certainly is challenging.

You're only allowed to bitch about scanlines at shmups.

I downloaded the demo. Why the fuck haven't I played it yet?

Seriously. I've been so pumped for this game since I heard about it and somehow playing it for free hasn't happened yet? I even got a bad-action promo display (about 30x30" without any crappy MSRP/Release Date print) from a local Gamestop for free.

Challenge demo fastest times in here?

Mine's 8 whole minutes lulz.
At this point I'm happy I can even beat it - I seem to suck at this game, but it's fun as hell.

Why has this thread died, unacceptable. The second demo came out on the japanese XBL marketplace a couple days ago and you can already get it with a silver account. Awesome demo and the difficulty forces you to learn the controls and adapt to enemies. For example, if you melee while reloading it seems to skip the reload animation.. really useful with shotgun for example. You also get access to possibly all weapons in the game so there is lots to try out. Disc launcher melee actually cuts huge enemies into parts without overheating the suit :P

Props to anyone who can beat the last wave using just guns and melee. I was sitting behind a wall on my first try and one of the enemies shot a huge laser through it (I wonder why the argus boss couldn't just do that. Oh well, game logic)

The full game will apparently have a challenge mode with similar levels, will probably be a lot of fun with leaderboards and all that.

Zaarock, you beat the challange demo? What's your fastest time?
No one replied to my previous post so I assumed that XBL didn't get the 2nd demo yet.

9m12s, but that was just my first time surviving through so I didn't mention it. I'll try and improve on it, lots of stuff to try out. Like doing the last wave with the huge energy bowling ball gun and knocking all the enemies into a pile for massive melee/grenade damage :P

edit: 6m16s now. too bad the quickest way to do the last wave is to just get them grouped up and shoot them with the two walker mechs from the previous wave. I think I'll use rocket launchers for the second last wave, those stray enemies have so much health.

edit2: uh, never mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF2v1cVqBSU

Yep! That's similar to what I did - made sure to keep one of the two rocket launchers for the last wave along with the "purple ball" gun -> try to knock all down around roughly the same area -> throw grenade in slo-mo -> spam the rockets. everybody dead.

Hrmm...i'm not sure where that original Famitsu score came from. I got it from a PS3 message board. Maybe it was from Famitsu 360?

Anyway, the actual Famitsu score is up, and it's 9/9/10/9.

It's less than a week away. I wish some western reviews would start showing up. I'm betting it won't be until after the weekend.

Online retailers in the UK are offering some insane pre-order bonuses for Vanquish. HMV are giving away a free copy of Aliens Vs Predator (the most recent game), and Play are giving away Bayonetta!

You'd definitely want to go with Bayonetta if you don't already have that. Awesome game.

I really wanted to love AvP so very much... but ultimately, it ended up just being a failure. The gameplay wasn't terrible; rough around the edges IMO, but good. The way they released it though, with such a small amount of maps, then provided extra maps for people who forked over money for special editions, then released those maps as DLC to people who bought regular editions... yeah, that was a sure fire way to kill what little online community they had. Even people who had the maps couldn't play them in matchmaking because there weren't enough people that had them online to make a full room.

I've had this pre-ordered for some time from Amazon. Release has been creeping up as I've been so busy lately. Looking forward to it.

Cant wait for this game to be released... dont really have much to add to this thread aside from that. Was totally wowed by the demo and the inclusion of the Japanese language track was a nice touch (albeit a far overlooked one in many games today).

Will certainly be buying this on day one.

Seems like your typical "western" mainstream forums&reviewers are already bitching about the game's short(supposedly 4h) lenght.

If the game really is just 4 hours long that is a minus. Not that it'll stop me (Platinum Games fanboy WOO~ ) but when I'm paying $60 I do expect more than that.

4hrs is kind of short, but it's not about how long it takes to get to the finish line imo. It's all about how amazing the ride to get there is. I can think of dozens of action games that commit the sin of inflating the clock count with backtracking and filler. Devil May Cry 3, for example could have 3 hours hacked out of it and I wouldn't mind one bit.

After the challenge demo I really don't care if it's 4 or 8 hours, in fact I prefer if the game won't be too long to make a perfect play tedious. And knowing the guys behind it, I'm sure we'll get some nice unlockables to spice up further playthroughs.

That said, I don't know if I believe the 4 hours bit; I seem to take always a lot longer on first playthroughs than most reviewers state.

I just wish more reviews would pop up. It's only two days away. What's the hold up?

And about the length...that is pretty short. Oh well... It'll be kinda strange that it's shorter than Sin And Punishment 2.

I just hope that 4 hours is mega fun.
