iPod/iPhone shmups
iPod/iPhone shmups
I recently got an iPod Touch, and ESP Galuda 2. For a portable shmup, it's pretty damn impressive. I see they also have the new Dodon and R-Type. Is there anything else I'm missing which plays reasonably well on a small touchscreen? Also, has anyone tried the (grossly overpriced) TV-out with these games?
Apologies if there's already a topic about this; I searched!

having a lot of fun with ISUD. Simple yet addictive bullet spitting boss rush game with online score boards.

Space Invaders infinity gene is pretty good.
Plays incredibly smooth compared to DFK and Galuda 2

rRootage Online is good too.
I also enjoyed ISUD.
R-Type is OK, but as it is a hori your finger/thumb can get in the way quite easily. Still worth checking out I guess.

There's one called sketch nation shooter or something that is very cool-- it's a shmup building thing, and I've had some truly great times with it. It's led me to appreciate all the crappy shooters others have made for the iPhone a little more.

Yeah it's Sketch Nation. Neat that it lets you literally sketch your art and then import it via the camera. Haven't played to much with building though.dpful wrote:There's one called sketch nation shooter or something that is very cool-- it's a shmup building thing, and I've had some truly great times with it. Obviously Dodonpachi Ressurection is great.
A really bitter pill to swallow in that its fully localised and can be got anywhere in the world unlike home console versions.

Dont try tumiki fighters. It was awesome on the PC, but the version they have on the iphone has the control schema where you tilt the phone to move. Pretty shitty idea (especially for a shmup).
rRootage (Free!), ISUD and the two cave games are the ones i recommend. Sadly ISUD doesn't have a free demo, so find some videos to see if its worth it to you (4 boss stages and a 5th stage where you fight all bosses)

Ditto for 1942 on iPhone (well, minus the PC part).Avatar Ignis wrote:Dont try tumiki fighters. It was awesome on the PC, but the version they have on the iphone has the control schema where you tilt the phone to move. Pretty shitty idea (especially for a shmup).
