The only difference is the DVD region lock-out.DC906270 wrote:The Asian version PS2's are cheaper than the Jap versions - does anybody know if there are any differnces/problems with using the asian versions to play Jap games? they are NTSC right?

You can watch them from a PC DVD player and special software to watch DVDs regardless of region. I use DVD region free to watch mine: http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htmcaptain ahar wrote:yeah, i didn't think of this before i bought my asian ps2 and now i can't watch my poor ass DOJ and ESPgaluda replays.BIG wrote: The only difference is the DVD region lock-out.

Besides the DVD region code.
It would depend on what Asian version you are buying. You might get a PS2 with 220V ac power adoptor.
And the menu lanuage options may include Chinese, Korean, etc.
Too bad Asian version is only avaliable on the island. I cannot play my demo DVD form ESP and DOJ with it.
But If I get the Japanese version there would be no warranty and I would have to found a step down power adoptor (220V to 110V).
