The Asada interview in the August issue of Famitsu XBOX360 wasn't that great, hopefully this would be better.

Re: Ask Cave a question
I'd ask them why they fucked up Deathsmiles NA.
Seriously though, fuck Cave interviews.
Give me John Carmack or even Cliffy B any day of the week. Most Japanese devs have the personality of a soccer ball. Yu Suzuki and Kojima are the only ones I've ever been fascinated by.
Oh and Famitsu writers fucking suck hardcore. Some people just need to get the idea out of their head that all Japanese people are super exciting.

BINGO!
You'd be amazed at how many bullets you can dodge by simply standing still

Ask them about regioning again - absolutely keep piling on the pressure.

Source please. Considering sales of just about every Japanese DC game sucked I find this one a bit iffy.Kron wrote:ot port anything to the Dreamcast when the sales of shmups were higher than those on the PS2.

Re: Ask Cave a question
Its not that they are not super exciting. The questions seem to be about choice of platform etc. Surely the questions should be aimed about Caves artistic direction. I want them to expand on what they have done technically, rather than shoe horning what they have into inferior/non ideal systems.
An exclusive x360 game would be nice, written from the ground up. I don't see why thats not feasible at this stage.

They are working on a 360-exclusive title, made from the ground up.

About the PS3:it has 256 Mb RAM, which is not enough to run a CAVE game. We won't see any PS3 ports.

Lol, if they wouldn't use those disgusting upscaled low res backgrounds you maybe could be right.Exarion wrote:About the PS3:it has 256 Mb RAM, which is not enough to run a CAVE game. We won't see any PS3 ports.
Doesn't it run fine on the iPad with it's 256MB?
A shmup disc release on PS3 will be nearly impossible and not feasible anyway, but releasing it on PSN is doable. Not sure if Cave even want this?

Re: Ask Cave a question
I bet it's because the PS3 doesn't support regioning.

PS3 region locking can be done and is set at the publishers discretion IIRC.

Re: Ask Cave a question
On disc yes, but most dlc is pretty much open worldwide.
I don't believe for one minute the PS3 can't handle Cave games. They are not that far more advanced than the ones ported to PS2 and that has a paltry comparable amount of memory. Besides, even if memory were a problem you would just write streaming software so as the level advanced you load more in. Caves design of memory management must also be rather crap, since shooters much more advanced are being written by much smaller companies. Perhaps they are polygon based, but still move along with the times lads.

Re: Ask Cave a question
Aargh, you guys don't get it.
The reason why Cave doesn't release their shmups on PS3 discs is simple. Because they simply can't!
It has NOTHING to do with PS3 to complicated to develop for (bullshit for 2d games).
It has NOTHING to do with PS3 to expensive to develop for (bullshit, even we can afford it).
It has NOTHING to do with PS3 is not powerful enough (LOL, this thing is a power monster).
It has NOTHING to do with PS3 has optional region free abilities.
Cave's games just don't come through the approval process of Sony. That's it!
If Cave would create games with Ikaruga, Gradius 5 like graphic they may stand a small chance. Creating them in 1080p, stereoscopic 3D and Move support would increase their chances by far. But not with games that look to casuals like a Playstation 1 game or worse like Super Nintendo games.
However they could release them on PSN...but they are probably pissed of by all this above.

Re: Ask Cave a question
The bottom line is, MSFT is a lot cheaper to develop for in Japan.
Cave is just being cheap, because they can. Their user base all owns 360s, and they probably know any "new" converts they get will be on an iphone and not a PS3 (why would the same dudes in Japan buy the game twice?).
The PS3 not having enough power is laughable. That is just a typical Japanese business man saving face response.
Super Stardust HD and Soldner X2 have a lot of hectic shit going on.
Bluray would be a huge advantage, they could put out a box set of their entire cataloge on one disc, charge 800 dollars for it, I'd buy one.

Re: Ask Cave a question
But that's the same with 360. You have to pay for approving the game in every region. That's so far the reason to lock again and the fact that rising star games is doing the distribution for cave games in europe (i don't know how far this is done by arksys). When I asked cave via twitter about dfk regioning and stuff, they told me to ask rising star games for it. So it's not just Deathsmiles and then they're done I guess.bcass wrote:PS3 region locking can be done and is set at the publishers discretion IIRC.

Re: Ask Cave a question
What I would like to know is this:
Do you think of re-releasing Mushihimesama and Espgaluda for Xbox 360 (maybe in a 2-pack) ? I would LOVE that because PS2 versions are so pricy (and at the moment I don't own a japanese or modified PS2) !
Greetings,
Trav

Re: Ask Cave a question
I would like to know if they'll re-release their entire catalog with super mega ultra yellow shiny label mode.
lol
Re: Ask Cave a question
So you want to convince a company to release 2 of its back catalogue games on 1 disc which are already available for ps2 to re-release for 360 to satisfy your own personal situation ?Travellinman wrote:What I would like to know is this:

Re: Ask Cave a question
I always assumed that because companies before Cave ported their shooters to the 360, Cave follows suit as their mass market all have 360's.
Google Translate tells me that Unlimited Mode "is for people who like festivals."

Re: Ask Cave a question
Reworking the games for 360 would take a lot of work, almost starting from scratch.

Re: Ask Cave a question
He was just proposing the question - which has actually been raised before, and if I remember correctly Mushihimesama got quite a few votes in that survey Cave put out. I'd like to see the first Mushi, much more than Guwange or Dangun Feveron.clp wrote:So you want to convince a company to release 2 of its back catalogue games on 1 disc which are already available for ps2 to re-release for 360 to satisfy your own personal situation ?Travellinman wrote:What I would like to know is this:

Semi-serious question.
What would it take to have another pie thrown at Asada's face again?

Re: Ask Cave a question
I'm not sure PS3 devs have to pay for approval in every region as with the 360 because the vast majority of JPN PS3 games are region free whereas the vast majority of 360 games are region locked.krokodil_final wrote:But that's the same with 360. Re: Ask Cave a question
Yes, I meant ofc that you have to pay for approval on 360. Sry, if this wasn't clear. I just wanted to explain why Cave is locking again.
And yes you're right most JPN 360 Games are locked, but most Asia are not. Many US (Even from Microsoft Game Studios) aren't locked nether. I guess you don't have to pay in Asia as much as in Japan?

Re: Ask Cave a question
Most Asia releases are in English, so I expect if you're already certified for an English language speaking country, you'll be OK for Asia (not Japan).
