The "Version of DDP You've probably never played!"

Post by undamned »

81 had a great thread going, on the previous board (why I trust other people's servers to not lose their ENTIRE database?), about the DDP Campaign ver., complete with pictures of it running at the Try Amusment tower.

81 was quite the go-getter when it came to having the latest arcade info. Just think Recap, only useful outside of the internet. He'd go film location tests, talk to store owners, whatever he could do to get it from the horses mouth. Well it came up that many collectors would be willing to pool money together to purchase the PCB and glean whatever information could be gleaned (HW info, ROM dumping, etc.) and then sell it to get our money back (or one of the investors could buy out the rest of those involved).

There are some pretty serious collectors on the board, at this point in time, so I think we have the $ to work with, but the question is, now, do we have sombody that can track down an arcade that is hosting the DDP SP. ver. to be able to talk to the arcade owner and get ahold of the actual PCB owner and negotiate $? Who knows what kind of $ the PCB owner would take in exchange for that gem, but anybody can be bought out, IMO, and like I said, I think we have quite the interested parties, here.

For those curious about the previous thread, 81 did get to talk to the guy in charge of Try and he said that the PCB was not for sale. 81 inquired about the hardware (to try and gather whether the game was running on std hardware and could be easily dumped), as well, and the guy said that it was running custom hardware. 81 was under the impression that the guy was just trying to throw him so he wouldn't bug him about it anymore.

Let's do something about this treasure, fellas! Doesn't it make you feal like Indiana Jones, or something? ;) Seriously though :D

ZBL-NAI owns the board.

http://www.cablenet.ne.jp/~works-k/sof.htm - SOF website is here.

We will never play this game.

Is that who lent/rented it to Try? If not, then NAI may have sold it to somebody else. How current is the info on that site (i.e. NAI owned it as of when?)

I am sure NAI lent it to TRY, if you look at the Japanese Blog that was posted in the thread, you can see that the arcade it was in during 2004 sometime had a sign stating the ownership.

I'm very glad I don't like DDP as much as other Cave games. :)

Where the hell is eight_one anyway?

For that special edition, I think the best way is to negotiate with an arcade owner with another DDP pcb under your arm and 400 $'s. That way the machine will not be inoperable and the arcade owner can get his wife that fancy watch she wanted and you can boast about your new gem.

It's in Saitama. Generally only people that live in Saitama dare go to Saitama.

Saitama is a "prefecture" that's been totally absorbed by Tokyo and is now little more than a gigantic suburb. There's almost no reason to go there unless you want housing slightly cheaper than that in Tokyo - it doesn't have much personality or in the way of sightseeing.

Also, the unique DDP board is worth far more than $400. Try going in there with a replacement DDP board and maybe $4000... then you'll stand a chance.

Thanks for the geography lesson (it's kinda funny, I know so little geography, but I really enjoy learning whenever I get the chance) :D

Exactly. We're talking about buying something that is not for sale, here, people.

mmh 4000$ !? I don't think so... don't forget it's an unique piece in the world, plus it is a 1st price competition....

if someone was winning such a price you realy think he will let it go like that ?

If these arcades are paying him something to rent this board, there is no reason to sell. Not to mention his teammate SOF-WTN calls himself a "DDP Professional" (and rightly so).

I do not think the guy would sell the pcb for even $10000. Now if someone, and I am not naming names :? , were to offer the guy $100k, he might sell it.....
