A question to "Fifa Soccer" players

Post by KindGrind »

So I went to my game shop, and saw the shiny new Fifa 11.... at 70$. I'm not surprised, that's EA for you, but anyways.

Thing is, Fifa 10 was dropped to 25$, and from what I hear, it's a great game. Is it completely retarded to buy the already "outdated" game, or is it just money-wise? Are roster updates possible?

Any input appreciated.

No, it is not retarded to buy Fifa 10 instead of 11. Fifa 10 is a fantastic game and a friend and I still play it at least a few hours a week. The biggest thing would be if you wanted to play online most players probably updated to '11 but if your just looking for a solid football game to play with friends in manager mode or be a pro mode '10 is a great choice for the money. Especially if you have to pay 70 for fifa 11, I'd be going to '10, it's good enough that I doubt you'll be pining for fifa 11 anytime soon. The biggest changes I noticed in '11 was some smoother animations/physics and the full on 11 vs 11 online mode but other than that it's a repackaged fifa 10. They got so many things right in last years there is little room for improvement IMO.

This is the kind of comments I was looking for exactly.

Thanks. I'll not play this online ever, only local, so it looks like a good deal to me, especially since F11 is so overpriced.

Oh, are the rosters updatable? Would be nice to have Özil and Khedira in Madrid...

As far as I know only through online updates/patches but I'm not too sure about that one. I doubt they'll continue updating now that fifa 11 is out so that might just be a sacrifice you have to make. Might be able to make custom rosters too but I'm not sure, I know you won't be able to in manager mode.

I happened to find a file that is basically all the rosters as of mid september, for pretty much all the leagues. Some people have a lot of time to invest in this, and/or are crazy. I did buy the game, and tried the file, and it works very well. Basically, you load these squads and voilà.

I find the game to be very tough, and I only play on Professional mode (normal)... I looked at some tips online and it seems there are a few things I was doing wrong. I mean, I lost to Wigan with Chelsea... :)

I'll mess with the controls more tonight, but it's been a while since I played FIFA, and things changed quite a bit. Great stuff for the price, though.

I picked up this again after nearly a year break. I also considered 11 but feel okay with 10 for now. Probably wait for 12 instead. Purchase FIFA/NHL annually have never felt worth it, because of the small, gradual changes.

I've heard they only did 3 updates with roosters, and of course now they want you to purchase 11 so they won't update 10 roosters again. So what is this file you talk about. I guess I should google?

Can you update the roosters while your in the middle of a season in career mode? Anyone knows?
