Haha, aren't The Mentors those dudes with extremely misogynistic lyrics and wear executioner hoods?

Currently listening to pretty much everything by French pop artist Alizee. I loveeeee her. Her last album is quite the departure, but some of her best stuff. Pop music is always good stuff to listen to when the day is no good.

I saw Celtic Frost a couple of years back in Sydney. Was a good show, played some Hellhammer material.

Right now, I just put on SWANS - Children of God. One of my all time favorites. Could listen to it forever. "Trust Me" is a classic track.

Marnie Stern - s/t

Worth it just for the track "For Ash" let alone the rest of the album which is pretty solid.

Picked up the reissue of The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall yesterday which is a real treat. The original album order is restored (thank god) with excellent sound as well as a CD of singles and mixes, a complete set of radio sessions of the time and a full gig of the material being previewed. This is how reissues should be done.

It also contains Words of Expectation which just happens to be one of the best songs ever recorded. Possibly THE best.

Salome - Terminal - Crushes their debut.
Cough - Ritual Abuse - Possibly better than their first album.
Electric Wizard - Black Masses - Meh. This is a definite dissapointment. The songs are aimless and it lacks the crushing doom of their earlier albums. The drums are pushed so far back and the production has a buzz that permeates the songs and dampens the impact of the drums and the song transitions.
Feedback will set you free.

"That's The Way God Planned It" - Billy Preston
"Encouraging Words" - Billy Preston
"Anthology of American Folk Music" -various
"Songs of the West" -various

I'm apparantly on both an old soul/funk kick, and an old folk/cowboy music kick.
