Do you believe in Sasquatch/bigfoot/yeti/skunk ape/etc?
Do you believe in such a thing? I don't feel like listing every bloody sighting of such a thing, since it's practically been all over the world. Anyhow, do you believe that an anthropomorphic beast that ranges in 6-8 feet high and is covered with hair exists near you, or at least somewhere in the world?
DISCUSS. I will not chime in until bloody well needed. I have many a theory to such a thing because I BELIEVE.

NEGATIVE.
Other than Capcom's Sasquatch (Darkstalker's) I don't believe they exist anymore than I believe aliens make crop circles in our popcorn fields.

Sorry Drauch, my default stance on everything is skepticism. It would be awesome if a lot of what people want to believe is actually true, but it is much easier to accept that it probably isn't.

Copy-pasting my input on this topic from a similar thread over at Monster Zero:
http://www.cryptozoology.com/articles/plainsight.php
I lean towards bigfoot existing, but I'm not convinced totally. I find the article I've linked above a compelling experiment in how these creatures could have remained undetected. Expanding upon it is that humanity as a species becomes more blinkered and arrogant as it becomes further entrenched in its self-made cocoon of architecture, science and technology. Many of us go through our lives without ever developing the instincts or skills we would need to survive in the wild. If bigfoot exists and is a species of comparable or even greater intelligence than man, the average 21st century human would look like a bumbling child to them, and be easily evaded. An intelligent species need not destroy its environment and remake it to its liking, leaving behind obvious artifacts of their presence. That's extelligence, an entirely different concept. A small population of experienced nomadic hunters could run circles around us and we'd never know they were there.

It's a lot smaller, but when there's increasing evidence to suggest that the Orang Pendek does exist, it'd be daft to completely discount the possible existence of other undiscovered mammalian species.
Apart from Bigfoot. That's just Bigbollocks.

Saw an interesting discovery channel video of that, had Korean war vets who said they saw it and a bunch of adventurers finding fresh footprints that were hard to determine if they were a new species or not. Exciting stuff.E. Is it possible that Bigfoot lives in the Afghan mountains, would explain why we haven't found them yet.

Nope, considering the technologies and such we have now to look for and possibly track things like this, if they existed, we'd have found out by now.

I'd love it to be true... but I can't believe in something without some kind of proof or evidence. That old footage is really cool though, and I remember seeing "the Legend of Boggy Creek" when I was a kid and it scared the hell out of me.
Re: Do you believe in Sasquatch/bigfoot/yeti/skunk ape/etc?
Goddamn reptilians again!!!
Anyway, there are probably huge numbers of undiscovered small species, but large animals are a different affair. Of course, there was that forrest (sorry can't remember the location) in asia somewhere that they recently discovered. I don't know how you have entirely unexplored tracks of land, but that sort of thing is likely to turn up new species. I know they just found that giant rat (cat sized!), and I'm sure there much much more--but much larger than a house cat and this becomes really unlikely.
I really don't think the Tazmanian Tiger is still around, even though Tazmanians still would like to believe it exists somewhere. Large animals require exponentially more resources than smaller animals. So even something dog sized would definitely need to eat some large prey--and you can't do that without obvious signs and impact on the environment. Something man sized is a bit hard to believe. The quantity of prey required (and habitation, waste sites, etc.) would be really obvious.
So sorry Drauch, unless bigfoot is living in a trailer home and people just think he's the actor from the geico commercials, I think there's little chance that he's more than a hoax. Plus, I thought the guy who perpetuated the hoax had fessed up.

Re: Do you believe in Sasquatch/bigfoot/yeti/skunk ape/etc?
If such a mythical creature is real and alive after so many years of the initial reports, it means that it's obtaining food and a territory that can sustain it, or that its reproducing successfully as a result of that. More individuals would mean higher probability of finding a specimen, and a greater impact on their environment.
Which means the f***ers wouldn't be able to hide that easy in this day and age without leaving conclusive evidence. We should have found at least one dead body, one piece of bone and fur that would allow for DNA analysis, if they existed. At least *one* piece already.
*EDIT* Cmoon pretty much just said the same before I did.

Are we talking here about supernatural beings? If so, I don't believe in the supernatural. If not, then they would be observable creatures in nature. But in that case we would have them in zoos by now.
Re: Do you believe in Sasquatch/bigfoot/yeti/skunk ape/etc?
Okay...we won't say Yowi, Abominable Snowman, ETC, and will stick to Sasquatch. Sure, Bigfoot is the most common name, but it is very cliche so we will stray from it.
Anyhow, Sasquatchs' have been found all over the globe in every part of the world. Through years and years and throughout all of these different time periods they're are legends and sightings of "ape men" and the like. Why are there sightings all over the world for hundreds of years? Simple: EARTH ELEMENTALS
Sasquatch is all over the world because they are earth elementals. They help keep the homeostasis levels normal and protect the environment. Sure, yeah, the environment is getting screwed anyway, but there is only so much they can do. They generally are well hidden, but yeah, they make some mistakes. THEY ARE REAL.
Am I full of shit? Only you can decide. Odds are good I am, I just want them to be real.

Most myths have some level of truth.
There are crazy outdoor types who live in caves and mountains and probably look like cavemen. If a drunk camper ever ran across one of them you could understand if he thought it was a bigfoot.
As for sea myths, we discover new species all the time, the bottom of the ocean is basically uncharted, so I have no doubt some sort of sea monster is real. Hopefully no one ever "finds" it, because unfortunately they'd probably kill it and that would be a shame.

I dunno about the apes. Yeah likley just outdoors type people with few clothes and lots of hair.
You see these huge wales get washed up with great gaping holes in the side fo them and you wonder if its taken that long for the wale to reach a beach that little fish have been picking at it to make a small would huge from the time of its death to its eventual beaching or if something out there is able to take one down. We dont know where Great white sharks mate or give birth. we dont even know where the giant quids come from just the ocasional spot or one doing odd things and coming up to the surface to die.

I'll stick to pools thanks. I wouldn't want that thing trying to bring me down. Saw a vid where they tried to track a giant squid, the camera got stuck to its tentacle and eventually the squid detached its limb so that it could get free.Lordstar wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-ZJXFzSjdA stuff is so strange down there it almost makes me to scared to go in the ocean.
Re: Do you believe in Sasquatch/bigfoot/yeti/skunk ape/etc?
Regarding giant squid, keep in mind the ocean is STILL mostly unexplored. There well could be great monstrosities down there we have no clue about. With the ocean we really have ecosystems that we don't really have tabs on, some cryptozoologists are going to be best looking there (aquatic apes?)
