There's no hurry for anything, so please take your time and get yourself settled. I can grab most of the information regarding the game system from arcadeita, and can probably guesstimate on point values for enemies and boss targets, using what I know from Arcadia.Cthulhu wrote:If I get a chance I might work on the Ibara articles a bit, but I'm in the middle of moving out of my apartment and trying to get back to the US, so I might not have time...
My main interest is in secrets and tricks that the strat sections list, as I haven't found much info regarding in-game secrets online, but again, no rush

i click on esprade, and all I get is a screenshot of the highscore table and a "coming soon" linkzakk wrote:How's it fail? Note there's TWO on there, you want the one at the top labeled as a superplay, clover-tac etc. There's one just called 'esprade.avi' with no seeders.
If you're clicking on the correct one, what's the error?

Go to http://tracker.featheredwings.net/. Click on the one that says "(SUPERPLAY) ESPRADE ALL41009080pts.avi", start the torrenting and off you go.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Oh...you're clicking on the link in my sig. Even if there were a video there, it would just be of me sucking at the game. You want to go to Icarus' bittorrent tracker. I see someone has already pointed you in that direction.pixelcorps wrote:i click on esprade, and all I get is a screenshot of the highscore table and a "coming soon" linkzakk wrote:How's it fail? Super destructive shooting, now playing in an arcade near you!
IBARA
Ibara
Maker: Cave / AMI
Genre: Vertically Scrolling Shooting Game
Control Setup: Eight-way Joystick and Two Buttons
Release Date: Late May 2005 (Now in arcades)
Standard Hardware Set: N/A
Cave’s latest creation, “Ibara,” is finally out! This time we’ll take a more detailed look at the game system and take a look at how to clear stages 1 and 2! All the points and scoring are also covered here, so you don’t need to worry about a thing!
Text: Clover-TAC (System explanation and stage 2 strategy), Keijou (? Stage 1 strategy)
Copyright 2005 Cave Co., LTD
Ship Type Explanation
In this game there are two types of ships you can use, but unlike other shooting games, there is no ship select screen. Rather, the ship you use is decided by whether you play as Player 1 or Player 2.
Negotiator Agent 01: Bond
Ship name: Shirisutaa Shimirisu (Shilitar Similius? Got me.)
Movement speed: Moderately fast
Main shot: Relatively straight firing
Normal bomb: High speed spread bomb
Option controls: Options generally face the direction pressed on the joystick. The options on the left and right of the main ship have an effective operational spread of about 90 degrees outwards from the front of the ship
Ship outline: An all-around easy to use orthodox style. Also good at collecting items.
Text next to picture: Player 1’s ship is easy to use all-around. It also has a good rate of movement.
Negotiator Agent 02: Dyne
Ship name: Dio Supirosshi (Dio Spiroshi? Again, ya got me.)
Movement speed: Moderately slow
Main shot: Highly damaging wide range spread shot.
Normal bomb: Low speed maintained explosive wave type
Option controls: Options lean in the direction opposite of the ship’s movement. The options on the left and right of the main ship have an effective operational spread of about 140 degrees outwards from the front of the ship.
Ship outline: A very technically oriented ship, from it’s options controls to it’s bomb type. You could say that it’s a ship that requires a certain “knack” to use properly.
Lower Left Box:
Important Point!
(vertical text)
This is the difference in the firing radius of the options as seen when pushing up on the joystick (see the excerpt column for more details). The rear option also behaves differently depending on the ship you use!
Kasumi:
The options only change their facing when you’re not pressing on the shot button – when you’re firing, they remain fixed. Please see the extra notes at the bottom for more information.
(bottom of page)
Thorns of Ibara:
Extra information about option controls: The options for both ships behave as follows: 1) When the joystick is in the neutral position, all options will face upwards 2) When pressing upwards on the joystick, the left and right options will point outwards. Pressing upwards on the joystick will always result in a greater turn radius for the options than pressing left or right. All of these controls are important, so keep them in mind.

Extra bits of info!
You get extra points for scraping up against bullets, but the amount of points you get is so small, it might not be worth worrying about…
(text next to picture)
The amount of points you get is so small, there’s no real reason to consciously try and get points by skimming bullets.

Important Point!
(text on the right)
About the Appearance of Items
As you destroy the small enemies flying around, you find that all sorts of items start appearing. Note that the order the items appear is set in stone. This is the order the items appear in:
Shot -> Medal -> Shot -> Medal -> Option ->
Shot -> Medal -> Shot -> Medal -> Option ->
Shot -> Medal -> Shot -> Medal -> Option ->
Shot -> Medal -> Shot -> Medal -> Option ->
Shot -> Medal -> Large Shot -> repeat
“Shot” is a small shot powerup. The number of these you need in order to raise the strength of your main gun jumps up level by level with these, but the Large Shot icon will always raise you up a level instantly. Also, the option that airborne small enemies drop is always a machine gun.
Shasta:
At a glance, the order that items come out in might seem really complicate, but if you just remember that the most important items – the medals – always come right after the small shot icons, then you’ll be fine! It’s really important, so don’t you forget it!
(text next to picture)
When you see a small shot powerup, as long as you think “Well, that means a medal will be showing up soon~” then the number of medals you’re able to collect will rise significantly.
(mid left box)
About the Destruction of Enemies
The vast majority of destroyable enemies and geography in Ibara have two point attributes: shot destruction score and bomb destruction score (note that sometimes the two values are the same). Also, when destroyed, there are two different ways of determining what items will appear. Keeping this in mind, the different types of “destruction evaluation” in Ibara are…
(table)
A: Normal Shot
Using your main shot or some types of option shots
B: Normal Bomb
Using your normal bomb attack or the bombs that come out when you are temporarily invincible (e.g. – you die)
C: Special Type
Using your wave cannon or running into an enemy (while invincible, such as after dying)
D: Special Shot
Using the rocket, napalm, and other types of (usually powerful) option weapons
These are the four ways you can destroy things. The points you get from each, and the items that can appear vary as listed below. There’s no harm in remembering these things.
(table)
Score Earned Items that appear
A shot score normal
B bomb score special
C bomb score normal
D low score normal
(text attached to lettered pictures)
A: Using your normal shot is the primary way of destroying things. Things that are especially hard to destroy (such as parts of bosses) are often worth more points this way.
B: Destroying things with your regular bombs can often earn you lots of points. The only way to earn special items off of things is from bombing as well.
C: When you use the wave cannon or ram things, you get the bomb point value, but you don’t any special items. Think carefully about when to use this attack.
D: Special option shots are powerful, but there are some things that give you far fewer points when destroyed this way.
(next box, mid right)
Equipping Options
You can select which position an option that you pick up will be placed in – left, right, or bottom – by touching the option with that side of your ship. However, if you don’t have three options yet, any options you pick up will automatically be placed in an empty position.
(text next to picture)
When you have three options, if you pick up an option with the side of your ship where you already have that sort of option equipped, then you get 10000 points.
(bottom box, starting from the right and moving left)
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! The Rank System
If there’s one thing you can’t avoid while playing through Ibara… it’s the rank system (one could call it the “difficulty settings” of this game). There are all sorts of things throughout Ibara that will increase your rank, and if you don’t think about what you’re doing as you play, you’ll suddenly find that your rank has become extremely high. When your rank is high, you’ll find that the following things happen:
Enemies fire more bullets
Enemies become harder to kill
Items drop down the screen faster
…Although the effect of these is quite drastic, it’s not too noticeable in the first half. In the second, however, it can get to be so bad that you have no idea what’s going on.
So, what can you do to keep your rank down? The actual system by which your rank increases is extremely complicated, so we’re not going to get into the gritty details, but the number of bullets you fire, the number of items you collect, and the number of bombs you use… things like that are very important. What’s also important is how to lower your rank. Put simply, dying is the way you do this. In Ibara, you get an extra life every time you build up a specific number of points, so repeating a “get points -> get extra life -> die and lower rank -> get points -> …” cycle can be very effective. Keep this in mind.
(text next to pictures, from top pic to bottom)
This is when your rank is low. You’d like to keep things this way, but…
This is when your rank is high. Even though this is the same attack pattern it’s this different… rather, it’s now impossible.
Important Point!
Lace:
The number of shots you fire, items you collect, bombs you use… things like that raise your rank. If your rank gets so high that you can’t go on, then it’s important for you to re-think the way you’re playing the game. Don’t make us go too crazy on you!
(bottom)
Thorns of Ibara: Since getting extra lives and the rank system are so important in Ibara, we’re going to make the stage strategy guides with an emphasis on score. There are lots of ways you can play this game, however, so it’s totally fine if you just take a few ideas here and there from this guide and overcome the stages in your own way.

By request, I've upped a kusoplay of one of my Battle Garegga practice runs. I'm using Bornnam, and score quite decently up until I died chasing a Medal during the Black Heart battle >_<# You'll see how I died, and it was very frustrating when it happened -_- The scoring run fell apart after that.
The final score is 9.84mil, to stage 6.
It's seeding now, and will be available until I improve on this score ^_^

Now available for your viewing pleasure is an Image Fight 1st Loop demonstration, available for download from the bittorrent tracker. I have managed to use EK-MAME+ to capture a 1st loop No Miss play, but the second loop attempt sucked hard -_-;;;
The replay is intended to demonstrate weapon selection and stage route strategies, and as such, I tackled the game using my favourite weapons. But feel free to take some ideas away and apply them to your own play ^_^
The replay is encoded with DivX, and is about 179MB. Enjoy the demonstration.
EDIT: fixed a typo in the url -_-;;;;;;;;;

I believe you, but there has to be a reason why others, including myself, are only getting a blank page when clicking on the torrent.ArrogantBastard wrote:Works fine for me...
EDIT-just tried clicking on the link for the Image Fight vid. on featheredwings.net, and I'm still getting a blank page. I should mention that I do have Azureus, as well.

Hmmm, that's really weird. The tracker is functioning okay, no problems, but it's not linking to the torrents in the [torrents] folder.
For those who want to get the Image Fight replay, here's a direct link to the torrent file. Please let me know if there are still problems, while I investigate the cause of the errors.
Time to make a very quick backup of the site, tracker and SQL database (just in case), and get in touch with rjpageuk...
EDIT: Problem found, please read next post for details.

I've noticed a few peers are connected to my older replays' torrents. So I've taken the liberty of reseeding my Blast Wind, TF4, TF5 and Hyper Duel ALL replays until next week (Tuesday).
EDIT: Huh, found the problem with the tracker. Appears that there's a bug in the PHP code that messes with direct linking to torrent files if there are any torrents listed as Private Access Only. Fixed the problem, all torrents are now available from http://tracker.featheredwings.net/

Been a while since I updated the site or the tracker, so I thought I'd make something decent to come back to them.
Latest replay footage is from Cyvern, of a 14mil credit using Ferious. This was intended to be my final entry into the 2nd smeet, but due to frustration with the game, and a relaxing evening's worth of watching DVDs, I missed the deadline by a few hours ^_-

Quite proud of this one, as I did not drop my Medals once throughout the whole run, but I did miss a few big sources for Medals from lack of Banish power, and from playing safely. Plenty to improve upon with this one.
Since I am unable to access super-play.co.uk via FTP to upload at present, and my filespace at ikaruga.co.uk has been temporarily removed for bandwidth saving, this one is distributed from my Tracker. You'll need a Bittorent client to download, and the video is around 340MB in size, with the XVID codec.
Link to the Tracker

Enjoy!
