The original.
I'd probably buy more PS1 classics if they didn't lag like shit on my HDTV. Hooking it up via an upscaler is fun until you try playing actual PS3 games, or games with forced widescreen.
Heh, my PS3 is hooked up via component to my 26" Samsung, there's no noticable lag to me.
PC Engine Fan X! wrote:There's a "High-Spec" version of Gran Turismo that runs at a silky smooth arcade spec 60fps in 640 x 480 mode but it's interlaced & playable on the original PSX hardware. Unfortunately, it's just one track and one car to race with...it's still fun nevertheless.

Also check out the cool High-Spec version of Ridge Racer running at 60hz in 480i mode -- it came packaged with the bundled set of PSX R4; Ridge Racer Type 4.

I'm unsure about the NTSC-U and NTSC-J versions, but if you got all licenses you could unlock that mode and use any car. I never really understood it as a kid mind, just made stuff smoother. Will it not work with my PS3?

I learned I can charge my cell phone from the 2nd player USB while playing a game on PS3. My wife's cellphone doesn't work even though we share the same charger (weird).

Are they the same model of phone?

Some models of phone will allow charging via the 5v line, some won't. :)

Protip: The PS3 can play those cool ".MTS" AVCHD video files generated on a HD flash camcorder's Class 4 type memory card up to 1080i format at 60fps. Just stick the respective memory card into it's matching card slot reader and it'll play it without any problems (the 1st-gen PS3 console has the usual CF, SD/mini/SD & Memory Stick Pro slots to choose from).

So was nobody impressed that you could get 5000+ worldwide radio stations on your PS3?

If playing PS1 games is the coolest thing you can do with your PS3 you might as well sell it.

"My controllers need to be charged. Always. For my gameplay it means winning, or losing. The great thing about the TwistDock is that I can put my controllers in, and while they're being charged, they're not being touched by anything. That means I can stay 100% accurate throughout the whole game"

Are you serious.

that is a really dumb ans useless thing there! :D
Desereves it´s own thread: dumb things to do with PS3
now you can make your ps3 look even bigger and retarded and have it tilted so the HD will be at an awkward angle probably in theory at least have more friction in it´s mechanism. really.
I still need a terrific cooler add on for my ps3 to make it stop going into overheat fan overdrive. that´s really loud

Sort of obvious, but with cats I obsessively vacuum out those little vents on the front and back underside and this seems to help. I've put in some long-ass sessions on Oblivion and not had any heating issues.

This is with a slim though, can't comment on the other models.

The PSP<~>PS3 connectivity is pretty rad. You can transfer any MP3s or videos very easily from one to the next, as well as wallpapers.

The upscaling may look crappy, but it's still neat.

You can even do this with the super old-school PSP-1000 & PSP-1001 variants as well via USB 2.0 interface.

NamcoBandai needs to port their famed Wangun Midnight: Maximum Tune arcade racing drifting series (based on the Sega Chichiro arcade mobo platform) to the PS3. But it's been said that it's an bonafide exclusive arcade only racing game -- meaning no home port whatsoever and has remained so to this very day.

Agreed, although your post is one and a half years too old
Great game

ps3 needs real Japanese arcade racing drift games
Where´s Taito´s Battle Gear 4?
Where are all the other arcade racing games?

One key thing I think the PS3 lacks is the ability to take screenshots with an in-game app and blog/twitter them. :)

Or at least make fighting game replays downloadable.

Isn't that Initial D game fairly old? I think it's third style, or whatever. I know my arcade in the city has 4th and 5th, they should port those already.

Don't think it's Third, the PS2/PSP game is based on Third I think.

Although I'm not 100%.

Initial D PSP: Version 3
PS3: Version 4

Also, the PSP version added voice acting, which wasn't in the arcade version.
Or maybe it just uses V4's.

Notice how you cannot browse for the next mp3 you are playing on the ps3.
This has been like this for about a year now. Before that with the press of the PS button you could browse to another mp3.
This sucks that the browse feature was taken out.
You can however still use the browse feature, but you need the dragonball z demo.
Start up the demo and you can change the music.
While your favorite mp3 is playing, you can hit the PS button to select another mp3.
Probably this just works for any game, demo that support mp3 playback.

when I get home I have to try this:

So hey, they dispensed another update recently, adding Blu-ray 3D support which absolutely nobody has. Jailbreak must have Sony running in circles.
Other new or revised features in version 3.50
Friends
You can now submit "grief reports" if you receive unwelcome or harassing messages. To submit a grief report, select the message under [Friends], press the button, and then select [Grief Report].
This should have been there from the beginning of PSN. I wonder if they'll maintain it. Chances are ridiculously low, since it's a free service.
PlayStation®Network
You can now access public information on Facebook from Facebook-supported games.
Getting there. Twitter next? Integrated Myspace support for PSHome? Maybe a mandatory Kotaku RSS feed?

I'd give my PS3 a hug but that'll just scratch it to hell.

I wonder if they'll ever release an update to sort your downloaded games in alphabetic order, or to separate the full games from the demos. Being able to remove 0% trophy sets would be nice too.
