Deathsmiles PAL release (DATED: Feb 18th)

Post by spadgy »

...that's according to Eurogamer Sweden:

http://www.eurogamer.se/articles/2010-0 ... ill-europa

Can anybody translate?

EDIT: By the way - I got that link from Cave's official Twitter feed, so it seems the news is true.

In 2011 by Rising Star Games, that is far I can I understand, but there is not much more.

That's good Rising Star seem to be competant so far, and appear to listen to requests for games.
Was who I'd expect for a european release, hopefully they'll do some of the extras like Aksys did.

Yeah - I've got a contact or two at Rising star, and it is them. I'm chasing 100% confirmation now. Should also mean I get access to some lovely hi-res press assets for us (that might not be available elsewhere) via Gamespress.

Why a lock? Becuase of the US thread? I couldn't spot another PAL one...

(Laying myself up for being proved wrong aren't I!).

And to think I was so close to buying a Japanese 360...

This is amazing news, though, can't wait.

I wept manly tears of joy. I seriously thought I'd never get to play DeathSmiles. I just hope this is for early 2011, rather than being over a year away.

Let's hope it will be the first of many euro-releases :D

Will it be region free? (ducks)

The US one wasn't and this is by a smaller company, who region lock all their other games. There'd also be no point, it's out in the other two regions anyway.

This is going to be the ballsed up US version. Worth knowing that before you get excited right?

Great news... BUT, yeah, it'll be the screwed U.S. version won't it? Would it be worth emailing them - at least making them aware of the differences and the obvious prefered version???

Short version: US release has most of the DLC on-disc (so does the "Platinum" Japanese release, IIRC), but is missing some of the original slowdown.

Is that confirmed? Rising Star have done their own translations before. Flower, Sun and Rain is one, and I'm sure there was another (but I can't remember what).

To all European players: you do NOT want the the US translations. You do not want your release to be based off the US release in any way. You want to have your localization be based solely off the Japanese release.

No, not confirmed but almost guaranteed. The localisation exists, Cave did it themselves based on the specification they wanted the west to see (which is a slowdown free DS on speed), and as far as Rising Star are concerned, how would we all know any different?

Very unlikely they'll stick the slowdown back in for the EU release, but fingers crossed nonetheless.

Just to confirm, are you talking about the US localisation that saw release, or some other internal Cave localisation?

I only ask as when I spoke to Cave for that interview I did they mentioned how relevant they felt Deathsmiles was for Europe, so (if you are refering to some internal loc) I'm developing a pipe dream that maybe Cave have some special version planned for PAL. However, they may have been referring to the entire West rather than just Europe, meaning we get the US version.

Wishful thinking I know!

Very. :(

The US release was optimised by Cave, not by Aksys. They made the changes, pulled out all the necessary slowdown, even did the text translation, and then sent it to Aksys who published it.

The chances of Rising Star publishing the exact same version is a 99% certainty, unless we see some flying muchi pork.
