Am I really seeing a google-translated Farsi (Persian) version of MathU's post and some other Farsi words which don't seem to make sense? :D

No real in-depth reasons, I like Bat's graphics and stuff but Garegga has good progression and stuff. They are quite close. I guess the folks who complain about Bat's rank and level selection have rubbed off on me or something. Bakraid may not play any worse than either of those, but it is considerably uglier, in a bad way. Also, I tried my hand at running behind that one boss to get 11M points by the end of the first level, haha, couldn't do it.

I got 400,000 on the Level 1 boss once and felt that was pretty good.

I've tried a lot, but can't get it right. I could never play Bakraid for score.

Garegga's oppresive atmosphere and unconventional gameplay style make it one of my favorite games of all time. It's really heart-poundingly intense in the later stages, and the overall scale manages to be huge, but there's never a boring moment.

Batrider is really cool but I doubt I'll ever get into it too much. It's one of the top shmups, though.

Bakraid sucks. It's ugly, the scoring is ridiculous, the music is bland... no thanks.

^ And, Garrega is that hardcore S&M chick that no matter how much you yell "Pop tart!" she just keeps right on lashing. My back get's so sore when playing that game...

For some reason I prefer Garegga over the others myself, and while I probably would've been a little nicer about the graphics of Bakraid this pretty much says it all. I especially hate most of the Bakraid music though (except 'Parapsychology' and 'Terrible Object'), as they give me the vibes of those really cheesy 80s TV shows that you cringe at.
Batrider's was fitting and not much else, but Garegga rocked. Not in the invisible bullet and difficulty system that has me banging my head against the wall harder than Satanic music fans, but in the atmosphere generated by the music. In the end though I think we can all agree that the three games are a love one minute, hate the next relationship, right? :P

I think most of us can agree that Bakraid is the weakest of the 3.

Ever since this thread started I've been playing tons more of these games to really see if I could choose a favorite.

In the past Garegga just kicked my ass, well it still does, stage 4 is my wall but I'm going to keep practicing (seems that it really picks up at Stage 5...)

Bakraid I've nearly cleared but what everyone is saying I can agree with - it's lacking that certain evil that other Raizing games have. What it has in accessability, it lacks in excitement.

Batrider has become my favorite for now - it has got everything a shmup needs. Finally makig it to stage 5 (but man are those last three bosses giving me hell)

Try clearing advanced mode if you want excitement. Bakraid is more difficult than Garegga when it comes to scoring because of the suicide/bomb chaining mechanic, and is why most people hate it. It doesn't seem that long ago when the majority on this board hated Garegga because of the "stupid rank" and having to use bombs and suicides for scoring, which is the opposite of Cave games. How far we've come in such a short period of time.

For the record I think all 3 are terrible in their gameplay aspect and always have been.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Nah, I always loved Garegga, since I first fired it up. I love Bakraid but if I had to pick out of the 3, it'd end up last every time.

What if we add Ibara to the comparison. How does it stack up to the Raizing 3?

I've only played Garegga and Ibara and I'd rank them in that order. I'm curious how you guys rate Batrider vs. Ibara.

Shouldn't Batrider be compared to Pink Sweets then?

...and Mahou Daisakusen, Dimahoo, and Souky right?!

I played a bunch of Batrider and Bakraid on Advanced course today and my god are they brutal. The last 2 stages of APB are so insane I can't imagine ever having the skills for it, was dispressing alright (yes I was credit feeding). Bakraid was alot more fun and was medal chaining fairly well. Gotta say I like the bombs in APB the most, but much prefer the sub weapon system in Bakraid.

Again, they are all so great- top shelf games, gotta pity the haters who need lolis to enjoy a game

Garegga is the best for me. Its mechanics are unusual for a shmup but one can learn them and do well.

Batrider is Garegga on steroids. If you want to score really high, you need to know how to unlock every secret boss and milk as much as you can, along with the medal chain and rank management from Garegga. You have little room for error as well. Too extreme for me.

And Bakraid...well, ever since I saw that superplay I won't bother playing it for score ever again. I really doubt Yagawa wanted people to play that way.

Have you played the Japanese version? European version is altered so it plays more like a "normal" shmup (not quite as brutal rank, but no extends either if I understood correctly). The Japanese version is the wild one.

It's supposed to resemble a streak of lightning ("rai" written 雷 as in Raiden means thunder, apparently).

This is interesting. I wonder if this super extreme crazy style of play was imagined by the people who made the game. I know that Garegga and APB are way out there, but the Bakraid superplay stuff I've watched makes me think it's taken to an unpredicted level of wackiness.
