Burning PC woe/ Alienware PC/laptop giveaway (UK)

Post by efimovich »

I thought I'd post this for anyone who, like me, has recently broken their PC shmup machine in a stupid way, and to throw myself upon your collective mercy in my woe.

Yes, I plugged it in in a way that it shouldn't have been plugged in. And now it's fuct. I write from my mother's POS computer. But there may be a way out...

Alienware are giving away PCs and laptops via AlienwareGiveaway. You sign up, complete an offer (e.g. join Betfair and load £10), and then get your friends to sign up too. Once they've completed their offers, and you've reached a specified number of referrals you get your PC. You can even withdraw your £10 from your Betfair account once Alienware have given you credit for completing the offer, meaning you don't have to spend a thing.

Perfectly legitimate (unlike pyramid schemes) - firms have just realised that normal means of advertising are declining in effectiveness. The BBC did a piece on it recently. If it means we all get free PCs, I'm all for it.

Anyway, here's my referrer link for anyone in the UK who'd like to give it a go themselves while helping me to play things like Raptor: Call of the Shadows, Zone 66 and Perfect Cherry Blossom again:

These things SHOULD be illegal!!!!!!! They are fraudulent in the same way that pyramid schemes are. Only a certain percentage of the earths population can get the items, you see.

For every person that gets one, there are X peopel that can't get one. if one of those x people dgets one, then another X people can't get one. it quickly expandds to cover the entire world and before long nobody can get one.

Say each computer requires nine referals. then only 10% of all participants can get a computer. see the problem?

In what way is this "unlike pyramid schemes?"
"Can they really get inside my head?"
"As long as you keep an open mind."
