Help me find Super Mario World toy game

Post by Skykid »

Years ago I saw some images of the coolest looking Super Mario World Japanese toy/game - it had loads of ramps and was built around a tower iirc. The characters you moved were paper cutouts I think.

Does anyone remember this, or have any images of it (or was it something I imagined!)

Many thanks.

For like 1.5 seconds I thought this might be about a Mario World levels hack made by some forum somewhere.

That was a very weird surreal moment for me there.
PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

No, older than that. That damn thing is hogging my google searches, but I know I've seen a very different looking one before. :(

All I could find were these.

The first is an official boardgame from 1988, made by MB. Although no ramps or tower, but old.

The next one is an papercraft one, made by Ashley Buerkett:

And then some funky new stuff, no paper, cutouts or such things:

I seen all of that stuff, thanks though. :(

Unfortunately it's not any of them, but I know it exists. And it's really damn cool.

Definitely not that. I think it was Mario World themed... Could have been the original Mario Kart though (possibly.)
You'd know if you saw it (and someone has seen it) because it's the coolest looking board game ever... It doesn't even look like a board game really, it's like a giant mario world toy with green pipes and all sorts of stuff built onto it.

its shit when memories get cloudy like that. You will see it and your brain will unlock the rest of the information almost like the light bulb going on in your head. I just hope the memories are as favorable as the actual game. Been a few instances where I have revisited my gaming past and they never stand up to my memories.

I'm trying, but google images says no. :x

There was a guy who had one and took several photos and stuck them on his site, but that was many years ago. I even think I remember asking Gaijinpunch if he'd ever seen one in JP before and may have sent the link too, but it looks like the site is long gone.

I remember seeing X-Men vs Street Fighter where the boss was a three headed sentinel.
Which is obviously bogus.
I think that arcade also had the x-men 6 player game. maybe that one had a 3 headed sentinel endboos or something. I still do not know what happened in my head that day! But it was awesome.
Ryu kicked one face on the three headed sentinel and the the faces would rotate and turn another cheek (another head) to bash on.
We will find this damned mario board game!
Maybe it was cancelled? Or maybe it was home made by a fan! Why don´t you start cutting out and make it yourself?

Hmm.. ok. Adjusting thread title slightly.

This is a game, but perhaps 'board' game isn't the best description. Maybe it had more in common with a toy. Think of marble madness in terms of plastic, but built up. There was a lot less paper involved than in the pics listed so far! I remember it being quite complex (but so cool looking) and fairly tall. If memory serves it had orange ramps that spiralled around the main structure. I also remember several characters being there, including bowser, but they're probably card stand cutouts that can be moved about.

It's definitely no way near as flat as the games shown here, so sorry for using the word 'board', my bad.

You're not confusing it with Kongman by any chance?
