For members who have knowledge of Japanese, is it Mushihime-sama, or Mushihimesama without the dash?

If it's mentioned earlier in the thread, my apologies,

Neither one is incorrect. You could write it Mushi-hime-sama if you wanted, or Mushi Hime Sama or whatever. There are no spaces or dashes in the Japanese title, but those are often added to make things easier to read. I personally prefer "Mushihime-sama" as it's easier on the eyes.

I actually wasn't aware that I would open a can of worms with my remark and I certainly didn't intend to start the flame war that has evolved because of it. Re-reading the thread, I also think that my comment, although not totally wrong as regards content, was misplaced in this particular thread and I want to apologize for that.
I thought that my tone made very clear that my remark wasn't intended to be taken too seriously, but obviously it didn't. Maybe I should have added a whole line of the winking smilies to make my intentions clearer? I only thought that the constant repetition of the same things got a bit old and wanted to express just that. Recap's hobby-psychologist answer (which, I assume, was directed at me) was certainly on a level of avoiding politeness I've seldom reached, but I couldn't care less. That's the nature of internet forums (of which this one, contrary to popular belief, is still one of the best).

If anyone would please just lighten up a bit? We've had our share of flame wars started from people overreacting to mostly harmless remarks lately and I'm not particularly keen on them.

I actually do care about resolution issues and true low res, but if I have the choice between getting a game with filtered graphics (Dragon Blaze) or not at all, I'll gladly take the filtered one. As long as it doesn't ruin the game, I'll eventually succeed in ignoring the nagging feeling that the port could be better than it is. It's the totally blown-out-of-proportions exaggeration that really annoys me. Obviously, some people are a lot more sensitive to technical issues than me, but sometimes I wonder when certain people ever get around playing the games instead of taking them apart in search of technical flaws.

On good days I'm able to pretend that some forum members don't even exist, which enables me to skip all their posts quite easily, but as some of Recap's posts actually contain a lot of useful information, I can't just ignore them.

And when I don't answer to a post for many hours, please remember that not all forum members live in the same time zone, so a lot of forum activity is bound to take place when I'm asleep. As this thread proves, whole flamewars evolve while I'm in bed.

Sorry for the lengthy post. I wish to apologize to everyone I might have offended and for derailing this thread so much. It wasn't my intention at all.

Let's drop this now once and for all and get back on topic, please.

Fair enough. The problem w/ the internet -- tone doesn't always work. A sincere question can look rather smart-allecky at times. Shit happens, yeah?

Hrmph. My copies (does anyone want to buy the regular version? :?) didn't ship until today. Not really fair, since I pre-ordered both of them within hours of them being available :P

^ Opt for Priority Mail in the comments section of your order (or email and tell them now). It should reach most places in the US by Saturday. Faster than Play-Asia and their economy shipping, even if they shipped a day or two earlier.

I'm a bad man.

I'll be playing this tonight, but hopefully my copy from NCSX will get here Saturday instead of Monday.

Same here. Picked that same slow shipment I always do. I'll be playing this game next week.

I chose not to get the LE since I don't really like the figure all that much. Space is at a premium in my house, and while cute, it's just not enough to make the cut for me.

Glad to hear others made the same choice about the LE figure and the shipping. Choices just seem more reasonable when you know that other reasonable people have made them as well.

Funny finding you speaking about "hobby-psychologists" and "politeness" when your illuminated post was nothing more than lame attempt to define my supposed "obsessions".

Your intentions were pretty clear, no matter how much "politeness" you now want to show. As you see, your "remark" was anything but "taken seriously" by me, since I didn't even reply, but let me tell you something - your post was not only a pointless trolling message (since you should know pretty well that if I've spoken about "true low-res" any time on this very boards is because there was, at least, one asking), it also shows how intolerant you are with others' preferences. You enjoy well a game with filtered graphics. Perfect. Others, don't. Live with that.

Sweet. Mine's off in the mail as well. I chose to stay with the regular edition, as the figure didn't do much for me, personally. One of those cool insect designs would have been neat, though.

I'm super happy to hear that this has tate. Although true low res would be icing on the cake, I won't hold my breath.

So, sometime next week (Wed-Fri), I'll be posting my embarassingly belated impressions. Errr...yay!

Actually, nope. There are not spaces or hyphens in Japanese but there are when you romanize it. "Hime" is usually attached to the preceding word, while "sama", as a suffix, is always separated with a hyphen. So the most canonical form is "Mushihime-sama".

I really don't see the point in paying 5 quid extra for a happy meal toy with my game

I could understand if it came with a superplay DVD or something, but a little figure doesn't hold interest with me

This is not a rule though. There indeed are no rules when romanizing Japanese... there is only what is adopted. Hime is very often a suffix as well.

There's no standard form of romanization. (There are a couple of standard systems, but they're not necessarily widely accepted.) This was once a big area of dispute (if you flip through texts about Japanese history, the author will usually give his or her opinion in the foreward) but it never got settled. You can spell "shu" "syu" as well, "tsu" can also be "tu," and things like hypens and spaces never got standardized either. Japanese wasn't meant to be written with roman characters.
