Twinkle Star Sprites

Post by benstylus »

Please post scores for this game in the new high score thread. Thanks!

Scoreboard updated 2006 Mar 18 - sorted by version

Code: Select all

Twinkle Star Sprites
NAME VERSION CHARACTER SCORE HIT STAGE
------------------- ---------- ------------- --------- --- -----
NANA (SAM's sister) Dreamcast Realy Till 951,521 20 7
SAM Dreamcast Load Run 825,610 37 7

Skyline MAME Tinker/Linker 2,110,680 39 ALL

benstylus Saturn (A) Story Mode 913,650 19 ALL

benstylus Saturn (S) Tinker/Linker 1,227,960 56 ALL

Code: Select all

Twinkle Star Sprites - La Petite Princesse
NAME CHARACTER SCORE WAMMIT STAGE
------------------- ------------- --------- ------ -----
Skyline Time 903,820 19 6
NANA Time 681,290 21 6
SAM Do-Eddi 550,190 15 ALL

Checked all 6 pages and didn't see a thread for Twinkle Star Sprites scores, so I'll start one. All defaults, no continues of course.

Be sure to cite the version you're playing (include whether it's Arcade or Saturn mode if you're playing the Saturn version)

Here's the format:
NAME - VERSION - CHARACTER - SCORE - MAX HIT - STAGE

So here's my score for this evening:

benstylus - Saturn (Saturn Mode) - Tinker & Linker - 1,227,960 - 56 - All

Hey, Ramus - if you get the chance, post the score I got on your MVS version as well (unless it erases the hi scores when you power off). Initials entered would be BEN.

SAM - DreamCast - Lord Run - 825,610 - 37 Hits - Stage 7

NANA - DreamCast - Till - 951,521 - 20 Hits - Stage 7
(SAM's sister)

This is the only shmups that my sister scores higher than me. :o

How about add a new score board for Twinkle Star Sprites -La Petite Princesse- ?

Would like to try to hit 4 mil. one of these days, but that'll only happen in the case of a fluke. Enemy AI for the first through fourth battles seem to be based on score and/or elapsed time...meaning that you'll just barely make the 100k mark before Yan Yanyung/Realy Till go from mildly stupid to "Dee-Dee-Dee!!"

I usually don't play as Tinker/Linker... just happened to be a few nights ago.

Any scoring tricks with them can be done with anybody... the only advantage they have when playing for score is their charge shot can shoot any direction so you can pick up some guys that may have gone behind you.

I think it was more a coincidence than anything else that we both happened to post scores with them.

You should probably combine story and character mode for the original TSS. The gameplay is the exact same in Story Mode as it is if you played through Character Mode with Load Ran.

They are combined. I have (S) to designate Saturn mode and (A) to designate arcade mode. They can't be separated because you can get an extra stage against Meirin in Saturn mode.

Also...

*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*

I thought Ran didn't transform in character mode? Been a while since I played her in character mode (considering she is the main gal of story mode)

SegaFans Weekly Issue #6 is out, and coincidentally (or maybe not so), has the first of a 3 part strategy writeup on Twinkle Star Sprites.

I'm a bit late, but I didn't see anything about bumping (other people's) old topics in the rules, so:

Ritz - Neo Geo - Kim - 1,388,300 - 42 - All

These are from a long time ago, and I kinda feel ashamed for posting for a game like TSS (I have Senko no Ronde scores but I guess the added insult of actually starting a thread is too much), but anyway:
Enhasa - MAME - Kim - 3,071,618 - 35 - ALL

Since the game really ranks you based on time, might as well:
Enhasa - MAME - Tinker and Linker - 4:10 - 61 - ALL

I like how Ran strips down Samus-style the faster you win. Real classy, ADK.

Edit: Oh yeah, this is on level 8, which is nonstandard, but I think everyone who plays TSS sets it to 8 too, dunno.

In western usually level 8 is used for TSS. But in japan level 4 is standard always for this game. Gamest score (4.007.569) is on level 4.

Thanks Gemant! That's good to know. Always nice to see a post from you too. :)

Yeah, I know about NMT8.2i's WR score. Plasmo doesn't track versus shmups in his thread but he was kind enough to tell me the scores for TSS as well as Change Air Blade and all arcade versions of Senko no Ronde. I am a versus shmup fan to the point where I even play them for score sometimes even though it's a bit silly. :P

Edit: Do you know anything about the fastest TSS completion time? Does anyone track that?
