After several weeks of pondering what new TV to get, I finally decided that this was one the best fit for all my needs: Panasonic L37G20 LCD. As you can see I'm using it as my PC monitor as well as everything else. It's on top of my new TV unit in my newly redecorated bedroom. This configuration looks a hell of a lot better than it used to.
I had the random impulse to buy some Transformers. I've managed to hold back the desire to buy any expensive Masterpiece grade figures so far. Here's the deluxe Swoop in his 2007 animated series design.
And here's my all-time favourite Transformer, Grimlock. I love this redesign and it's a great sculpt, but quality control on the manufacturing side is shockingly sloppy. Paint applications are slapdash in places, but the main problem out of the box was that the arms didn't transform properly in robot mode. See the black part of the hind legs here? Those become Grimlock's elbows in robot mode, but the weren't retracting into the shoulder sheaths properly. I searched for a solution online and found a modification procedure on Allspark forums.
Here you see the inside of one of Grimlock's shoulders after I disassembled the arm. The circled area shows a buildup of excess plastic that was preventing correct transformation of the arm. I chiselled out the excess with a screwdriver.
LEFT: Fully extended elbow joint (beast mode configuration). MIDDLE: This is the furthest the elbow could be pushed up into shoulder slot originally. That's not how it's supposed to look. RIGHT: After modification, the elbow joint can now be moved into the correct position for robot mode.
