Great meet as always Tom, what was the name of that game where you are cutting parts of the stage away in order to trap the boss in a small amount of space?

Jeez Tom,

I really enjoy these meets of yours, nice to see the usual faces and some new ones. I can't believe how many new machines are there since the last time I came over. Zekes Peak sure did steal the show last night, wow what an awesome game. That nice T2 machine really took me back. You are a great host and I look forward to many more SoCal meets!

The highlight of the night for me was breaking the 100,000 mark on Sinistar 8) and of course watching DaveK dominate at Ketsui

Hi guys,

whew where to begin? That was definitely a rocking good time!! Want to thank everyone that made it out to honor and party with Mr and Mrs DaveK!

@everyone: Thanks for honoring our house/arcade rules, being great guests. Thanks also for helping hands when needed. So many of you helped out, but I didnt get to take specific note because I was flying around 100mph! Also Thank you for the cash ya guys pitched in to help offset the costs hosting (soda, ice, pizza, and electricity). I'd still be happy to host without the assistance, but it does make it easier to get Sara's permission to host future meets at shorter intervals in between :) If you brought friends, please relay my thanks to them as well because they were equally cool and I don't have their contact info to properly thank them for coming down. Was really glad to see zeke's peak, T2, Rampart and Volfied getting so much love thruout the night! Sorry for afterburner2 crapping out..I will have to get that fixed and bulletproofed asap!

@Stuffmonger: Thanks again man. You always come through for me, each and every meet...arriving early to help arrange things, troubleshoot and fix game issues before and during the party, and help with putting things back where the belong at the end of the night. I hope one day, my games will get to where they are all working 100% and stay that way so you can just game all night, instead of helping me put out fires. I am going to add your name the future socal meetups as co-host because without your selfless efforts, the meets wouldnt be nearly as enjoyable for everyone involved. PS thanks for installing all the new lightbulbs in all the coinmechs..and I still owe ya $$$ for the Space invaders haul.

@DaveK: Man, it was great to finally meet you and your wife in person. All the work we did to pull this meet off was definitely worth it! Anytime you guys come back down to SoCal, please let me know in advance like this time, and I'll try to host another meet to coincide with that. Yeah baby Yeah!! And thanks also for letting my son Logan hang with ya, I know he can be a nonstop chatterbox :)

@Shuurin: the game is called "Volfied". I think its a pretty rare pcb: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detai ... e_id=10345

I'm glad ya guys enjoyed this. I think its a pretty rare game from 1989, never heard of it until A friend mentioned it on another forum a few weeks back and he hooked me up with his extra board. I do believe it is mame'd and there are some youtube vids regarding gameplay. There does seem to be a scoring exploit as shown in one of the vids and the score may max out. (Im hoping it only applies to mame but we'll see) Seemed like there was always somebody playing it whenever I passed by...Made my life abit easier as host not having to swap out pcbs from the Astro2 ;)

@Ramus: Thanks man for making it down man. It was really good to see ya again, its been much too long and I know its abit of a trek. Glad ya liked Volfied man, we'll have to get together again soon to play for score!

@MikeHaggar: Have your pcbs hostage...err safe and sound. Guess that means we'll have to plan another socal meet soon or hookup to play tetris attack!!! I love that game. You aren't good at puzzle bobble (bustamove) are ya?

@Necronopticous: lol, man. So glad you guys dug playing Zeke's Peak. It was one of those games I never played before but took a chance based on the hype surrounding it. I remember seeing you, Mikehaggar, Stuffmonger and acg12xu (darn these difficult to remember shmup handles) playing it the most. I think we'll have to implement a Zeke's peak score competition with prize for all future meetups!!

@Gibbous: thanks man for making it out. Finally nice to have a chance to game with ya! May need your help someday with CAX :)

@Frenetik: Good seeing ya man. Next time though, I will be confiscating your keys so there will be no early escape again!

@Xray2: thanks for making it out. I know your schedule is pretty packed so its always an honor when you join us. Thanks also for the technical troubleshooting and tweaking my asteroids deluxe!

@Dewmansnk and VBA: Glad ya guys could make it out. One of these days (soon) I plan on getting a high score board so we can permanently keep track of all scores you guys put up. Glad ya guys liked the new games, hopefully there will be more the next time you guys visit!

For me personally, this meet was one of the best yet. Always good to see ya guys again and was very cool to meet some new faces and finally meet DaveK...And the games were pretty rockin! Already looking forward to doing this again, can hardly wait for the next one :)

Thanks,
Droid

Thanks Droid! I had a great time with a lot of your machines and meeting new faces. I think there are still about half I didn't get around to playing because I spent so much time with Zeke's Peak :) Thanks again for being a great host.

droid,

Thanks again for putting on a truly stellar meet. With all the new cabs and new people, it was quite the exciting evening. I was hooked to the Zeke's Peak cab, what an amazing addition. Happy to say I got to play the Fonz a few times last night. Xray2 was explaining how many of the game options are set and how the force feedback works, really interesting stuff. I got to watch Norm break 100K on SInistar which was and amazing run. Got to meet the legendary Dave K and watch him put down some impressive Ketsui runs. acg12xu, Necronopticous, MikeHaggar and myself were swarming that Zeke's Peak cab at one point, still impressed with acg12xu making it to hole 10, would have loved to see that run. Shuurin and myself had quite the in-depth talk about blast city cabs, it was cool to exchange knowledge and share our research. I got to applaud Stuffmonger for helping droid keep the arcade running smoothly. I don't think I ever properly introduced myself to Stuffmonger or got to say thanks for keeping the cabs running.

droid, these meets are always a blast and they keep getting better. I cant thank you enough for opening you home and arcade to all us enthusiasts(read: nerds). I am already looking forward to the next meet but still can't stop talking about this meet. You are a truly great host and I appreciate all your hard work in putting on one of these meets. See ya at the next one

We just got back home now, and my wife and I are still talking about how great that shmupmeet was! A huge thanks to Droid (and his wife) for being such outstanding hosts. It was interesting to see these meets from the participant's side, and I must say Tom, you certainly went out of your way to make sure everything ran smoothly. What an amazing set of cabs, its hard to believe that wasn't all of them, and all in pristine condition! You certainly made me jealous, especially how these were setup outdoors! It was also great to meet the SoCal crew, especially team Nanio, and Mr Driller himself mikehaggar. You all are welcome to any future NorCal meets!

Damn it, again I missed the event. Damn Round 1 (new arcade down the street from AI with a few shooters, including Espgaluda II)

Thanks Dave, I'm still greatly honored ya guys made it all the way down here and wish I could say all my meets were executed this smoothly... but this was easily the best since we've emerged from hibernation and started doing these again, and it couldn't have come at a better time to coincide with your visit. Its been abit of a learning process and each meet has been improved upon. I'd like to say the outdoorsy arcade was the vision all along, but its really out of necessity. The garage can't handle the electric load as its currently configured.. Moving a bulk of the games to the patio allowed us to tap into different circuits and this was the first time we were able to get all the games turned on at once. It will be interesting to see how 1 night full bore will affect our electric bill, heh.

Hey pics or it didn't happen! I couldn't find our camera, but I did notice your wife snapping pix of the event early on.. Any chance you'd have time to upload these? I'd love to see em if its not too much trouble :)

Thanks Droid and DewmanSNK for the kind words. I'm glad I could be of service.

Thanks again for hosting Droid. It was a blast. I really do like the patio-cade. It worked out really well. And, damn that Zeke's Peak... Now I want one. You can keep your millipede though ;). Let me know about that astro if you're still interested, and don't forget to bring me your robotron. I just got an idea for the Zeke's Peak height issue Droid. You could raise it up, and put the battlezone step on the front >_<. Woodgrain FTW!

One of these days, I'll have my game room all fixed up, and I'll be able to hold a meet or two as well. >_>

Haha! Some select pics (mostly of your pristine cabs). I'll send you a zip file with around 15 pics total and all in larger resolution. If anyone else wants the zip file, just PM me.

lol, Thanks for the pix Dave :) My only regret was my afterburner deluxe crapped out before ya had a chance to try it out. Darn 23 year old machine! :(

Frenetik may be onto something! Roadtrip to Daves!
