Newest game in the series is a very non-traditional hori shmup. Your movement is essentially one-dimensional, and your shot can move two-dimensionally, aimed by the IR pointer. Interesting concept, these guys tend to make good games, though I'm really not sure if I'll enjoy this one.

I'm excited about it. They have impressed me with their former games for sure. One interesting thing to note is that there is so much more precedence within this genre. Their last games were almost completely original, so they quite a bit more to prove with this.

I think a lot of people who are not really into shooters will be getting this, so hopefully some new people will be introduced.

Looks really good - I've played a couple of the other games on a friends Wii but I haven't got any of the bit.trip games myself... might have to pick this up though. Seems original, an on-rails shmup. Hopefully there will be a compilation disc released when all six games are done.

I've only played BIT.TRIP Beat, very cool rhytmgame with some great chiptunes. The levels were just way too long for their own good though which was my only gripe. Hard and enjoyable experience nevertheless and this new game seems no different. The concept certainly sounds interesting enough so I migh pick it up once released.

looks like we're gonna have to think up a new genre name for panzer dragoon and space harrier shooters as BTF is taking rail shooter.

No, the BIT.TRIP games are all Wii-exclusive. Do yourself a favor and buy one (unless you hate fun).

EDIT: http://kotaku.com/5628515/iphone-bittrip-beat

well, it seems I was wrong, perhaps this game will come to iphone too, but I'm the type of guy who needs buttons.

I also had a lot of fun with Beat, Core, and Void (especially Core actually). Runner was disapointment to me though.
About the length of the levels in Beat (and Core and Void btw), I definitely like them this way. The game only has three levels, each one lasting for about 15 minutes. The game is definitely not meant to be played in a whole row, but level by level. This way, you get to fill that 20 minutes break between your end of work and time of dinner with that exciting no-miss score competition, yay !

I grandly hope that Fate will come back to that scoring system : long levels, multipliers, no-miss=score. Does the game have a release date yet ?

Fate is home by now, and I like it !
As said earlier, it has those modes switching things, scoring opportunities and shmups related stuffs in it. I cant get all the aspects of scoring as of now though but definitely enjoy it.

Anyone else get the feeling that this game is literally just Rez turned on it's side? Same music/shot mechanics, same style of power up system, same health system. The only real difference is you can control where you are on a line. I'm not saying that any of this makes it a bad game, just that it feels awfully familiar.
