STGT'10 Week 2: Xexex
Re: STGT'10 Week 2: Xexex
Naw grab it anyway, well, I like obliterating the dragon with it. You can make the flint do most of your dirty work in St. 4, remember, you can tuck the laser into crevises ahead of you with it's "shadow."lgb wrote:no don't grab the fucking shadow laser beforehand stage 4 is a lost cause then ugh
I use the shadow laser in St. 2 as well to deal with the organic neutron sacks. But yeah, aside from that... it's not very effective then on.

Milked the hell out of the bosses, but still died to the stage 5 boss who was almost beaten. Man he isn´t that hard, but somehow I yet again got surprised by a projectile which I saw a little too late.

That fight is a lot easier when you block one of the vine arms (preferably the top one) with the Flint. Or, you can camp in the safe spot (copyright shoe-sama).Skykid wrote:Goddamn that 4th stage boss.

I got the search laser from one of the random powerup spots in stage 2 and managed to keep it all the way to stage 5. Thus, stage 5 suddenly became very manageable instead of being the usual mess of bullet spam. Then I got poked rather unexpectedly by the midboss's dick.

If there was a God I'd thank her that this is over.

I´m aiming for 800 or 850 thousand, then I´d finally stop torturing me with this.

i'm aiming for a 1st loop clear and i was really close now. (died at the last hard part of the game)
congratulations on obtaining your goal.

died at this part: (not a pic of my scorerun)

if i would have made it past that part this could have been my 1st loop clear.
it's the next to last big enemy and the wave of enemys that give me trouble. (everything after that is not so bad)
any tips for that part?

Looks like i didn't capitalize my handle in my second score post. Double entered in the list now.

Re: STGT'10 Week 2: Xexex
Sorry guys for not being around lately.
I moved to a new house last week, and on top of this my PC stopped working at the same time. I didn't even see what we were playing last week up until it was too late.
I've managed to play some of Xexex yesterday and today. I had never played it for more than a few minutes in mame.
I am loving it a lot. Its top 25 material IMO, it's just the kind of shmup I like to play.
here is my score so far... I'll try to play a little more tomorrow, but I am not sure I'll be able to.

This is my last run. If I ever play this shitty game ever again, it'll be far too soon. SOOO many cheap deaths, especially on the final level, where the scenery starts moving with no warning, and forces you to fit in tiny gaps that are nearly impossible thanks to the ridiculous sensitivity level of the speed ups rendering anything less than a 3cm movement a near impossible task.
Awful game.... yet ANOTHER crappy Konami game in their back catalog.

Didn't milk anything. Stage 5 is really hard to recover from. :\
Not sure if I'll continue playing it: the game is pretty slow-paced, there's nothing going on the first ~15 minutes, and then you suddenly get to 1-5 and it's game over.
