Progressive scan for PSP2000 on XRGB-3 via VGA?
Progressive scan for PSP2000 on XRGB-3 via VGA?
Hi guys,
I just bought an XRGB-3 unit and today I received the cable to connect the PSP2000 slim to the XRGB-3 unit. I use VGA cable to connect the XRGB-3 to my VGA monitor. I switch all on, B0 mode, I can see the PSP displaying in my monitor. However when I try to play any game I receive the message that I should set up progressive scan on my display.
The setting is OK on the PSP, so I think maybe I should set up this in the XRGB-3 as well? Or is this due to my PC monitor not being able to support progressive scan feature? I cannot try this on another monitor. Has anyone had the same problem?
Thanks!

which machine shows the error message ? The PSP ? Go the PSP display setup and set the output to progressive. If it's set to interlaced only the menu and movies work, but no games. However when I try to play any game I receive the message that I should set up progressive scan on my display.

To connect to external display
1.Connect the cables to the Multi Use connector / Video Out port on the bottom side of the system.
2.Connect the other ends of the cable to the back of the display, making sure to select the appropriate video input ports for that particular display.
3.Turn on the display and access the appropriate video inputs (i.e., Video 1, 2, 3, etc. or Line/Input 1, 2, 3, etc.).
4.Turn on the PSPgo / PSP system and press and hold the [Display] button on the front of the console for at least five(5) seconds. If successful, this will bring up an image on the display and the LCD screen on the system will black out.
Things to note:
To clear the video output, press the [Display] button again.
You can output video in progressive scan only with the Component AV Cable (SCPH-98550 or SCPH-98563). To change this setting, go to (Settings) > [Connected Display Settings] > [Component / D-Terminal Output] and select "Progressive".
You may select the TV type that the PSPgo / PSP system will output. Either 16:9 format or 4:3 format. You can change this setting by going to (Settings) > [Connected Display Settings] > [TV Type].
Re: Progressive scan for PSP2000 on XRGB-3 via VGA?
ok seems by the link provided it is an issue with the PSP 2000
"Composite AV cables (SCPH-98548) can output games to a TV only with the PSP-3001. You will not be able to with the PSP-2001 and the message "To display this screen on a connected device, you must be connected using a component AV cable or a D-terminal AV cable and you must output the video content in progressive format." will appear."
This is the exact message I am receiving, thrown by the PSP.

So you have composite video cables and not component?

That's composite. Won't work on a PSP-2000 with games, sorry.
Re: Progressive scan for PSP2000 on XRGB-3 via VGA?

I'd imagine component. Composite is awful.todosnk wrote:what would I need to make this work? is there any other possibility?

You can use this cable on a PSP-3000 only, since it supports interlaced games output.
On a PSP-2000 you either need a PSP D-Terminal cable or a PSP component cable. On first one connects directly to the XRGB-3. The later one using a component to D-Terminal adapter (was included with the XRGB-3).
