Every time I see this thread up my start to bump high because I think that the patch has finally come out. But then all of a sudden I see the posts and .... well words are missing to describe it.

Hey, the patch is actually said to be on the way now with all the praise for the Ketsui praise. If you have DOJ-BLEX, chances are you also have Ketsui, so spend your time playing that if you think that BLEX menu loading times are such a waste of your time. I know I will.

It seems to come from a galaxy far, far away then...

They will probably sell a bunch of other copies once the patch is released. Personnaly, I won't buy this game until this patch comes out.

Popped in DOJ Blex for the first time in a while and I just no missed the first 4 stages on Very Hard Black Label. Then I died three times consecutively in the very beginning of stage-5! I feel very sad, but I won't give up. I don't care about a patch, I can scratch my nuts for a minute or three while the game first loads, once it starts I think it is a great clean port with jiggy option menus (that once you figure out how to navigate, are mostly painless), but the haters will hate.

Also, the box-art isn't the best but I think the background and ships look nice. Cave style characters are slowly growing on me, but something about them usually looks kinda "off" (proportion or perspective related). Anyway, if you own DOJ on PS2 it might not be worth it, Black Label's differences seem minor and X-mode is more of a novelty score-attack mode, still fun though. The bugs are overrated in their detriment.

I have to agree. The menus suck ass, but in-game isn't bad at all. I honestly don't get how people can be so utterly annoyed to the point where they won't even pick up the game because of it.

Sorry to bump this old thread but I was just thinking of DOJ patch taht was suposed to be out for ages.
Does anybody know if they are going to release it?

But according to Andriasang http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/0 ... achi_gate/ there will be patch news at the Cave Festival this weekend.

This was also mentioned on Mihara's and Asada's blog as well.

Looks like the patch actually exists!

They will annonce at the Cave Matsurin that it won't be a patch for DOJ, instead we will enjoy the DFK port :lol:

Which I hope is the case. I bought the game a few days ago since there's not supposed to be a re-release of it and the price is only going to go up when the patch does hit. I'm pretty excited to get the game, but I won't open it until that patch is actually out.

God, I'm excited. I only credit fed through Daioujou once back like 4 years ago when I was first getting into shmups. Can't wait to play it like a respectable person now.

New update today from Mihara about the patch, on his blog (I'd link to it, but he's banned all foreign IP addresses, so not much point anymore):

-He says this week they'll try the final test. All that remains is fixing the response time in the menus. He's fixed all of the bugs, and cleaned up all the messy areas of the port (loads, etc). He also says he has withdrawn from doing a "Complete" version he talked about earlier, after considering his schedule, Cave's upcoming lineup, and other factors.

So this patch is as good as it's going to get. Thankfully the port of Black Label ver is nearly 100% identical to the PCB (even without a patch), and is in fact one of the best Cave ports around.

Why are you keeping it sealed?

All the patch is going to fix is the menu loading and the leaderboard replays. You might as well open it and play it, nothing is going to improve as far as that goes. If you think they're releasing a real ported version of white/black DOJ, there is no way it would be in a patch. And I don't see them wasting money on that, this game sold like shit.

The game isn't rare in the least. I was just in Tokyo this summer (where I bought it) and every single electronics chain I went in had the game for normal retail, it was still readily available.

Also I should point out, Domonic Cobb is the scammer Japhei, he was just banned on another gaming forum using this same name!

The issue's hardly limited to loading times or patience. You can't even practice the second stage onwards, because there's no rank control or power control for practice mode.

In fact, I've been wanting to learn the second loop of Black Label for quite some time, and this port doesn't allow me to do so.

I agree it's stupid to reject the game outright due to it's load times, but by that same token once you've played the game it is something you have a right to complain about. I honestly don't mind the load times if i'm just going to play the game right away, but it gets rather annoying when I want to change settings or something and need to start jumping between a lot of menus. It's particularly annoying when I forget something or need to go back and make another change. Again not a deal breaker, but definitely something worth fixing.

I find the most annoying thing about it is the fucked up practice mode & replay mode , both of those have helped me get 1cc's on other cave 360 releases

I honestly think this patch is Duke Nukem Forever, it ain't ever coming out.

The game is fantastic, and you should have already been playing it to death to practice for DFK.

Huh? I thought White Label had some serious glitches that were supposed to be ironed out by the patch?

Never touched it.... not once. Thats' what the PS2 version is for. Never had any issues with the BL except for the loading at the beginning.
