After practicing stages 5 and 6 i finally had a really good run sine i managed to get to stage 5 without losing a single life. It was then that i got a major attack of pre 1CC nerves and started to panic bomb and lose lives stupidly, I managed to get to the last boss with 2 lives and 8 bombs total stock which i managed to just beat it with my last bomb.

Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
Due to the upcomming tourney ive been trying to finally 1CC DDP 1st loop (c-s) all weekend so i can put it to bed and fully concentrate on the tourney games. After nearlly beating it last weekend ive been getting nowhere which was becomming quite frustrating.

I have been playing DonPachi a little this past week. I am only making it to the stage 3 boss.
Guess I'll have to put it on the back burner for now.

2 days ago I failed at Espgaluda's final boss with 1 pixel left of his energy.
Meanwhile I'm trying to learn Gradius II but keep getting stupid deaths in ice rocks of the 3rd stage.

Now 1cc-ing on GG Aleste (Special Mode), which is much easier than the rest of the Aleste series. I'll plan to upload the demo to YouTube as well.

Trying to get my first 1cc on Perfect Cherry Blossom but stage 4 keeps killing me, I need more practise xD Also been playing Gunbird 2 since yesterday and XOP for a couple of days, seems it's one of the only shmups that runs on my ancient windows 98 laptop at full speed.

I played through Gleylancer again yesterday.
It's not as good as MUSHA, but dang if the game doesn't have some phenomenal music.

Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
I've just gotten back into shmups. I've mainly been playing DoDonPachi Daioujou on the PS2, after reading some of the DDP DOJ I'm getting used to building up and using the hypers. I like how you can pretty chain all the stages even though I can't and seem to break my chains early, it makes for a huge potential in scoring (I'm flabbergasted after watching the new B-EX super-play). I can see myself playing this for awhile, I highly recommend it if you haven't had the chance to try it out yet. Also both the original and arrange soundtracks are great (I can't decide which I like more).

Masaya the makers of Gleylancer made some damn good games including the langrisser series. This tune from Warsong is in my top 3 fav bit tunes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBMYnjWB ... re=relatedcj iwakura wrote:I played through Gleylancer again yesterday.

Warsong/Langrisser 1 was so much better than I expected. The battles were insane in their scale. 64 soldiers in one fight? Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
the snes jap only der langrisser is good aswell as it has various paths in the story then langrisser 2 for the md which its based off (although i hear the original is a harder game) Der langrasser has a fan translation for those of us (including me) who cant read kanji. Its about time someone translated the saturn langrisser 3,4 and 5
Der langrisser has 3 secret stages, one of which stars masaya's cho anki bros
I played it before i got into shmups so i hadnt a clue who they were, i was like WTF is this

Progear. Right now I'm trying to learn Stage 3, both proper chaining and survival. Highest score I can manage now is 3,807,360 with Bolt/Chain on Stage 3. Though I know it's worth trying out other Pilot/Gunner combinations, I usually end up using ships with the narrow, strong shot, so I'll very likely stick with Bolt anyway.
I like that credit feeding to later stages in Progear doesn't interfere with a Score Run, because the player's highest score on one credit is kept in memory when they decide to quit. Pretty useful.

Re: Shmup Ticker: What are you playing RIGHT NOW?
Xexex [Japan + World versions].
Japan version is *so much better*. Autofire when the Flint is released, cooler weapons [although, the missiles in the World version are neat], saner bullet spreads [World version abuses the fact it has a lifebar], etc.
Hell, the Japan version feels like they took the World version and tweaked it to be better, instead of the other way around, making it worse.
On the other hand, World version has simultaneous 2 player [well, by default at least, haven't dicked around with the settings], which is awesome.
Also, Xexex feels like Gradius done right to me [read: it feels like R-Type by Konami :D].
