Black tiger PCB question.
I won this auction -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1
I bid much lower than the guy who won this one -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1
Did I get lucky or is there something I should be concerned about? Thats a difference of over $100.
Edited.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Thanks oxtsu.. Looks like a really nice game.. Looking forward to playing it.oxtsu wrote:You got an original board. The other auction is attracted by foolish bidders. I paid $35 for a minty Black Tiger sometime earlier this year. It is normal price $30-50 (US version).

One of the best Arcade platforms ever, and one of the few dark fantasy games around.Congratulations, you will play it a lot

I think the case here is that the other auction listing was confusing...
Black Tiger JAMMA 100% Working D&D CPS-2 Too
I have both D&D CPS-2 Games, Alien vs. Predator and Armored Warriors all NEW and COMPLETE CPS2 sets with original packaging and everything! Contact for PICS or offers. Several other boards will be listed soon!. Here is a 100% working Black Tiger.
It says he's selling black tiger here, and is also planning to sell d&d and the others...maybe the bidder thought the auction was for all the games?

Yeah I'd guess so - that $154 guy thought he was getting 3 boards, what a chump
Good choice on the purchase - Black Tiger is a fantastic game, and the only good version is the PCB.

This was an impulse purchase for me. I did look at gamefaqs for the review scores, but now I'm stoked that I bought such a well regarded game. I am kinda excited about playing it now
There was a C64 and Spectrum version at least, I don't remember playing either and I had about 300 games for those computers. Maybe it was one that went under the radar.

C64 version wasn't too shabby, also had a pretty decent soundtrack (mostly original - how I miss the days when companies converting coin-ops felt no shame in simply junking the entire soundtrack if it proved too much effort to port, and replacing it with their own compositions
). But yea, it's definitely one of those games that never got the port it deserved. Will always remains a mystery to me how it never received any console versions, especially considering the inferior Magic Sword was prted to the SNES.

There was an Atari one too I think, maybe an Amstrad, and someone once said an Amiga one existed, though I never found it. The Spectrum version was hideous. Monochrome (as always), and the music only worked on the 128K spectrums, and then only on the +2A and +3, on the original 128 and +2 it was so quiet it was almost muted.

I have the Amiga version installed on my A3000... it looks pretty good, but the controls are crap and the scrolling is jerky. It was ported by US Gold IIRC, and although they did some decent ports to the Amiga, this wasn't one of 'em.
Great game, though. I'm more of a Rastan guy myself, but Black Tiger definitely has Rastan beat in the gameplay balance department.

Great pickup, mate.
This is the game that I remember most from my childhood and was also the game that lead me to discover MAME.
I personally prefer the Black Dragon clone, as not only is that the version I had at a local shop in New Zealand of all places, but it also features slighty harder settings.
Anyways if you haven't played it yet and you enjoy old school platformer's you are in a for a treat.
Enjoy
