Was reading an condensed article that originally appeared in the August 3rd, 2010 edition of the Los Angeles Times regarding Atari's comeback:

Fasinating article about Atari and what they're up to these days. Could they get back into the home game console wars anytime soon? The Atari Jaguar was the very last console to be made by IBM at it's South Carolina-based plant back in 1993.

International Creative Management, Atari's Hollywood agency, has set up Asteroids as a movie in development at Universal Pictures and Roller Coaster Tycoon at Sony Pictures Animation and is shopping other titles like Missile Command.

The last incarnation of Atari imploded horribly. I sort of want to see a "real" Atari again, but I don't think the market really needs them anymore solely 'because they are Atari'. If they release some great stuff, then wonderful - I'll be glad they're back. I'd love to be proven wrong. But they've got an uphill battle to get me to care about them.
