Strikers 1945 II was released on the US PS1, though it was only called "Strikers 1945." The first game was actually never released in the US, to the best of my knowledge, though both it and its sequel are available on several systems if you import. The third in the series was never ported.

I played the PS1 version last night and had a blast. This game is more fun than and less difficult than Gunbird 2 and Dragon Blaze, IMO. Getting to level 4 is not so hard in Strikers but feels near impossible in GB2 and DB.

BTW, did anyone else notice that Strikers I and II was released just yesterday in the Taito's Best series for Japanese PS2? I wonder if there are any extras to make this a worthwhile purchase for someone who already has the PS1 Strikers II?

It wasn't released "just yesterday." Over a year ago, in fact.

Considering that the bundle includes two games and tate mode, yes, it's worth buying for someone who owns only the American Agetec release of Strikers 1945 II. However, it's not really worth the money for people that own the Japanese Saturn/PSX versions of the games. The Strikers pack also doesn't save high scores.

What I meant to say is that it was rereleased in the Taito's Best series, and so is now cheaper. According to Play-Asia the release date was yesterday. Here's the link:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-r-7 ... 0-p3o.html

I noticed that it was even a few dollars cheaper at NCSX!

Thanks for the info. I'm very tempted to pick this up, as I have yet to play Strikers I. And maybe someday I'll have a tv that I can tate, so this will be good to have. Doesn't save high scores? That's just plain bizarre.

I see, kinda surprising that Taito decided to rerelease it so soon, especially since the first release probably didn't sell too well. I'm pretty sure that the original release (at least the Asian version) was also discounted to around that price, if not lower.

BTW, does someone know how many levels there are in Strikers 1945 II?

Wow, that's a ton of levels. So does getting through 1-8 count as a 1cc or do you have to get through 2-8? Not that I really have any hope at all of getting beyond 1-6! Has anyone here gotten through the second round?

Most people count clearing the first loop of a Psikyo game (or most any shmup, really) on defaults as a 1CC, to the best of my knowledge. The only one I can recall hearing some debate on in that regard is Batsugun Special Version.

Mills' video was of the 2nd loop of Strikers 1945.

Ex Mosquito performed an all clear of Strikers 1945 II (and he had videos of how he handled the boss fights as well).

Guess I missed the II bit here and went on the title description alone...

Sorry for any misunderstanding on my part and even more kudos to Ex_Mosquito of course :)

I'll edit out my other post.

Wow, nice work Ex Mosquito. That must have taken a lot of practice and even more raw talent. I'm impressed.

To give you an idea of how much time Ex_Mosquito put into it, he's burnt out and pretty much quit playing shooters. He also said that he practiced every single second-round stage ad nauseum until he could do them without thinking.
