Soldner X2 or Gundemonium Collection PSN... Which is best?

If your'e a PS3 owner the choices are limited. Fortunately we have these games as DLC, so it's not all bad.
(Still pretty bad though)! I thought a quick Poll would be in order to decide which is preferred.

both have good qualities, but the nod goes to sx2.

I thought this too initially, but now I'm starting to favour Gundeadligne. S2 runs are a bit of a slog but props to it for being a MASSIVE improvement over the first. The rare item/unlockable weapon thing is really cool. I'm level 9 pilot and still have only unlocked mines!

yes Soldner X2 is a EuroShmup, and typically I hate those games with a passion, but youv'e got to admit it plays better than 99% of them. There really needed to be more levels like the ice cavern (stage 6) with interactive scenery like Gradius, and like I said the runs drag on a bit, but overall I say this is quite an acheivement and goes some way to bridging the cavernous gap between Japanese and Western STGs in terms of playability.

It helped that unlike some I had no sound skipping issues with Gundemonium. Hitagata Hapa is difficult, but I'm enjoying it. Problem is there doesn't seem to be much variety in the waves on each stage, and I'm not too keen on the buying dolls mechanic, but the actual shooting is solid, and do like the different doll's firepower (charge down R-Type cannon, Raiden Toothpaste laser, Homing etc. Overall though GundeadLiGn is the best game in the collection. It's pretty off the hook in later stages.

I'd say gundemonium collect is better, but sx2 is good too. gundemonium is much more cavey, if you like/dislike that. sx2 is probably the best euroshmup I've ever played, and it's good, but it's still a euroshmup.

The only real choice is to buy them both. They're downloadable games, you DEFINITELY could afford it (you should be able to afford two retail games as is).

Oh yes, it's far better than the normal Euroshmup, but between the two I find it's the more frustrating to play. Plus you don't have to collect keys to unlock stages in Gundemonium.

Gundemonium Collection is 3 games (2 of them muthafuggin great ones). Can't really see how Soldner X2 can compare to that.
Yeah I'm a dick who haven't even played SX2, but at least I bought the crappy original.

SX2 is, as mentioned previously, WAY better than the first. The first was rather poor other than the visuals. The second is quite good and worth owning. I was able to track down all the Gundemonium games for the PC a few years ago and loved em there - the PS3 versions are spot-on. I'd give the nod to Gundemonium I suppose, as I love manic shmups and I like the art style (yay 2D), but you really oughta just scrounge up an extra $15 bucks and get the other as well. Just skip Starbucks or McDonalds or something a couple times and you're set.

I haven't played Söldner X2, but I'm glad I took the chance on Gundemonium. I'm having a lot more fun with the games than I expected. I've never played a Doujin game before, though.
