I bought a Cave SH-3 Ibara PCB full kit several years back and have noticed that the on-board CR-2430 button cell battery doesn't tell the proper time anymore. Upon powering it up, the clock time shown on one of the demo stage runs shows the incorrect time (if not correctly set when in Operator's Menu mode). Does this particular back-up battery have any other use other than for RTC (Real Time Clock) purposes?
What is the purpose of having a CR2430 type back-up battery on the SH-3 Mushihime-tama PCB (when there is no clock nor real time calendar being displayed anyways -- both clock/calendar features aren't even accessable when in Operator's Menu mode either)?
Thank you in advance for your informative answers as always...

Re: Question about the RTC on the Cave SH-3 PCBs...
Sorry to hijack the thread but on a similar note, why does the DFK SH-3 PCB not have a battery? Is there no RTC on that particular game?

Re: Question about the RTC on the Cave SH-3 PCBs...
DFK (all versions), and Deathsmiles MBL lack the battery. Scores are saved directly to the NAND.
I don't remember if they had a RTC.
