buying a PSP-3000 for this matter.If so what do you suggest?
Seriously. The problem is hard to pin down. Worst case scenario is that it's just a unfixable incompatibility somewhere. Have you tried messing with the VSC's size and panning controls, maybe the PVM can lock to the signal if you minimize/maximize those...

Which Sony PVM do you use ? The PSP-3000 outputs 480i in component. Even if your Sony does not accept component, you can route the component through the XSelect as well and still take the Extron out of the chain.

Oh, so one of the XSelect sync settings (sync tip etc) were to blame ? I didn't know that these were stored per input.
