Considering they've gone so far as to give the PS2 players the same sort of autofire mechanism as arcade players are using (at least according to screenshots popping up now), And all movie indications are that the game plays just fine, I'd almost go so far as to say that it exceeds Galuda standards.PsikyoPshumpPshooterP wrote:prediction:
Taito's port of Mushi wont even live up to the port Galuda's standards...
If you want manic..real manic...just play ketsui..everything else of cave's seems inferior.
I like Ketsui quite a bit, but that statement just seems silly.

Yep. Just pull out the insert and you'll see that there's an alternate cover on the back.
Four more days! Paid the price to get mine quick from Play-Asia. The LE is running me almost $100. So be it.

Well the orginal mode is quite easy. It was said that when the game is first appeared in the acrade around here a vertern shmups player 1cc the orginal on his first attempt.GaijinPunch wrote:Some people were moaning that the game was too easy. 99% of which had never seen the arcade version, so it was really directed at the game, no the port.I don't remember what happened. Were people disappointed or something?
I can reach stage 5 in orginal mode now with a 1cc after some pratice. I don't know if the game got 2nd loop, but I seen it somewhere that it does, just not confirmed.
Manic mode is a bit more difficult, but the ultra mode is real hard. Player who can 1cc Ultra mode is really somthing. It is said that there is only a couple of players in Japan whom can complete Ultra mode in a 1cc. I guess they are talking about the 2nd loop, since I consistant seeing good player reaching stage 4 in ultra mode around here.
Under normal default setting, started with 3 lifes, 1st extend at 2,500,000 then every 5,000,000. (Orginal Mode)
Stage 1 800,000
Stage 2 2,100,000
Stage 3 3,900,000 <= Earn 1st extand and a extra 1up to pick up in the stage
Stage 4 4,600,000 <= I much be playing real bad to score so little in this stage
Stage 5 5,800,000 <= Earn 2nd extand, then went down in flame before the mid boss.
According to my calculation, you would got 6 lifes during the whole crouse of the game. That means that you can afford to lose 1 life on each stage. Not bad if you consider each life come with 3 bombs.
*Meow* I am as serious as a cat could possible be. *Meow*

Then it could be the same -- people moaning about the game, not the port.Well the orginal mode is quite easy. Some people were moaning that the game was too easy. 99% of which had never seen the arcade version, so it was really directed at the game, no the port.
I was able to get to stage 3 on 1CC on the 2nd or 3rd time I played the game... I was much less skillful then. I don't think anyone anywhere is saying that normal mode is very challenging.

Sorry if I missed this earlier in the thread, but is there a place I can go to read up on the game system? I went into Espgaluda knowing how the game worked, and it really helped... what do I need to know about Mushi besides "shoot stuff, don't die" and "bomb when you need to?" Are the objects you collect for scoring only or do they have some other purpose?
Well I just "upgraded" my order, so it the LE edition for me me!

Ikaruga review now up in PLASMA BLOSSOM

Apparently, this game is already uploaded to usenet groups. My friend who is an .iso-whore downloaded it. He said it unpacked at just over 1gb. Some of his impressions were as follows...
Tate-mode did not "shimmer" like Taito's Psikyo collections did. The graphics look incredibly clean and colorful and do not have that emulated look. And you can tate either way. As well as adjust the screen however you like.
Arrange mode is similar to Galuda's arrange mode, except you start with six "options" and you have auto-bombs. No continues. Lots of bullet-hell and, from what I gather, A LOT of slowdown.
In the arcade modes, the high scores do not reset when you continue, rather, on the high score screen, it shows what level you reached and how many continues you used.
There are five difficulty levels, very easy, easy, normal, hard, and very hard.
No built-in superplays.
He gave a few other details, but that seemed like the important stuff. Sounds like it is shaping up to be a good port.

Some others are already saying that the game is upscaled and filtered even in tate, though. And the screen adjustability thing could serve well to believe that.Bullet_Storm wrote: Tate-mode did not "shimmer" like Taito's Psikyo collections did. Well, that's good (I guess). Anyways, man... didn't know PS2 piracy was so bad. The store I get it from just got it today, as they sent the shipping quote to me. I couldn't imagine HK getting it the same day. Maybe they're not the ones uploading shit.

Say, Recap, are you obsessed with things other than screen resolution/filters/japanese 2D art and the like or is that all you worry about. I might be mistaken at this, but I get the impression that all you ever do when entering a discussion is bitching about something that has to do with the aformentioned issues.
Just curious.

Mush Port
Ok, so there are no built-in replays. How about an extra Replay DVD as with DDP DOJ? Do the standard or LE versions have an extra Replay DVD? If not, does anyone have a link to a new Jap replay? I've run out of ideas how to increase my Maniac Mode scores
.

On a separate note;
I see complaints about Original Mode being too easy. Well, you've got to realise that 1CCing Original Mode is not the aim. This mode is all about 1LCing (1 life). 80% of your total Original Mode score is from life remaining bonuses at the ALL. So, if you still find 1 life clearing Original Mode easy, then.....and only then, can you state that its too easy for you. Of course there's always point squeezing to 68mil+ if you find it too easy

Re: Mush Port
I'm sure there was a discussion awhile back about this and someone said the back of the box says it only comes with one disc.DEL wrote:Ok, so there are no built-in replays. Could be wrong though, memory is a bit hazy
Yeah, pirating PS2 stuff is way easier than you'd think.GaijinPunch wrote:Well, that's good (I guess). Anyways, man... didn't know PS2 piracy was so bad.
