ESP.ra.de pcb question

Post by jepjepjep »

I just picked up an Esprade pcb. The game itself plays fine except for the 2p side controls are borked. I've got a new LS257 chip on the way that will hopefully fix that. But when I turn on the cabinet, the copyright screen just flashes by immediately, so fast that I can't even read what version the pcb is. Any ideas what is causing that?

Also, there is a white vertical line that flashes by on the left edge of the screen every so often especially when going to the title screen or player select screen. Is that a common thing with these boards (I've heard others mention this)?

Perhaps it's just that your monitor takes a while to turn on? On my Egret 3 I can see the copyright screen for a good 5 seconds or so.

Could be to do with voltage, but I'm no expert.

The white line is normal for these boards.

Ah I see the line now, hardly noticable. :|

I've got an International board.

Good to know about the white line being normal. Thanks for the replies.

I guess I'll be set once I fix the stuck input. This game is great!

I replaced the faulty LS257 chip which fixed the input problems on the 2P side. It also fixed the boot time, now I can see the copyright screen whereas before it would flash by too quickly.

I've noticed that my monitor is a little louder when I play ESP.ra.de, as compared to Ibara. I'm referring to the slight humming noise, that's only really noticeable during the attract sequence with the music off. Could this be due to the different refresh rate of the board, or could it possibly be another component issue on the pcb? It's not a big deal by any means, mainly just a curiosity.

TURN THE VOLUME DOWN ON THE PCB.. IT SHOULD BE A LITTEL POT..
I RECOMMEND A PLASTIQUE TRIMMING TOOL RATHER THAN A METAL SCOODRIVER
