Arcades in Amsterdam?

So I'm spending a week in Amsterdam for my honeymoon, and I was wondering whether there are any arcades or even cabs standing around in particularbars.... primarily, I'd like to play shmups, of course.

Well, I realize this is very improbably, but I at least had to try...

When I was on holiday there in 99 I found a little place with a few cabs in, like 3 or so, with graffiti on the walls I think? I dunno it was ages ago now. Tiny little place.

its a coffeshop and afaik its still there.. cant help you either with its exact location but somewhere in the centre, im not a pothead so never took much notice to those places..

To be honest I don't think it was a coffeeshop as such anyway, just 3 or 4 cabs in there and no till or anything else. No-one smoking or anything.

Amsterdam does not have a proper arcade centre. You might if you are extremely lucky find a neo cab in a coffee shop somewhere.
If you want to play arcade games why not travel a little and go to the beach in Scheveningen that´s in The Hague. (in Dutch: Den Haag) The arcade is in a mall on the beach boulevard, you can´t miss it.
They have a great arcade centre there with lots of cool huge cabinets. Just smoke some hasj in Amsterdam is my recommendation, don´t eat space cake, because the high will only kick once your digestion starts and it gets into your blood or something, just roll a joint with hasj and don´t mix hasj and weed in one joint.
Fun fact: smoking cigarettes is forbidden in cafe´s etc. BUT
You can still smoke joints in coffee shops. Officially it would mean that there is no tobacco allowed in the joint, but whatever.
Me and my girlfriend were in a shop once and there was this idiot with some kind of bong and he exhaled so much smoke it filled the coffeeshop. I was like....THAT is allowed, but a cigarette not?

a long time ago there was this older American bragging mf in a coffee shop. He was rolling a pure weed joint and put lots of hasj in it. Me and a friend were like:
eeeeehhh?, yeah man!? that´s too much we told him. He was like: I smoke it like that!
And then we were like: but here the stuff is stronger. He still did not listen.
5 minutes later he passed out on the bar. Now, that was no accident!

Space cake is the best. I'm planning a trip over there for my 30th, hopefully to go to the Roadburn festival, and I can't wait to give the baked goods a shot. I gave up smoking in favor of baking some years ago and now I don't even like smoking anymore. The effect is totally different and I think it's much more enjoyable when you eat it.

Also, that guy you mention sounds like a typical arrogant American douche. I've heard some stories about jack asses eating space cake because, for some odd reason, they think it won't do much to them, and they wind up freaking out or passing out.

no, seriously. I just got back from amsterdam a few weeks ago. you will NOT miss having an arcade around. it's probably the most beautiful place I've ever been. my dutch is horrible and my french is worse (not that many people speak it there anyway), but I felt like a local. you guys will have a blast. i'll be disappointed in you if you don't.

Thanks for the warning, but I've been smoking/ ingesting/ pushing weed and shit for over a decade & I've been to Amsterdam before, so I don't think any accidents of the sort will happen to me. Yeah, sounds like the typical show off, don't we all know one of them...
We will spend the first week in Amsterdam and the second travelling around the Netherlands. We'll probably hit up Den Haag anyway, so thanks for the tip!
