I played through it again recently and just loved the boss battles, especially the one with the end.

Yeah, I just replayed the whole game, and while I like the story and setting of the first one the best, the 3rd one is probably the best actual game in the series. The bosses are pretty wild too.

Even on my second attempt I still couldn't hang with it. Found it far too tedious, frustrating and dull.
