HOLY SHIT! Isn't that artwork by the dude that makes the awesome Three Mischievous Fairies manga? Now with 100% more Cirno? Either this is a gigantic LOLZUNtrolling or the best game to be released this Comiket. You all know Cirno is the strongest.

Anyway, "Fairy Wars". The infamous revenge of the fairies after being cannon fodder for so long? There also seems to be a regression on the screen text, it's all in watatatata instead of engrish.

I think it is the same artist, certainly doesn't look like Zun's work anyways. A small touhou game featuring Cirno could be fun, can't really read it so I wonder if its a traditional stage progression shmup or something like Shoot the bullet. I hope this isn't a lolZUNisTrollin post, it could be fun.

Yeah, he got Hirasawa Makoto to do some of the art for him. This game is based on his Touhou Sangetsusei manga series (Eastern and Little Nature Diety/Strange and Bright Nature Diety/Oriental Sacred Place), which star the three mischievous fairies. ZUN apparently had to get permission from his publisher, Kadokawa, to include them in this game.

Anyway, MotK has a full translation of ZUN's blog post. Apparently this game revolves around freezing bullets that you're otherwise supposed to dodge. It's not supposed to be really serious and is meant to be played in short bursts, like Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoiler.

New graphic touches; circle health bars, new text windows, FIREBALLS.

StB/DS-ish charge thing. You charge quicker by shooting+destroying and grazing, and you can do a slower charge just by holding the shot button down (kinda dumb but). When charge fills up, find/herd large amount of bullets and throw sonic freeze boom; large chain of frozen bullets are destroyed, profit. Can also be used for tight spots to remove bullets I guess but the freeze won't get fireballs (of course). You also get bombs (Perfect Freeze), you can freeze fireballs with them (of course). Espgaluda with a tad of Every Extend? Whoa.

Anyway game is pretty good props to ZUN for releasing two pretty decent titles in a year
