Since the thread was locked before I could reply...

Post by BrandonL337 »

First of all thanks to SikRaiken for the link, btw L337 is a pun on my last name I am perfectly aware that as a shmup newbie I am not actually "L337"

As for Bullet Magnet I was not aware that they were not freeware, due to the wikipedia article being poorly worded leading me to believe that PCB and the other shmups were freeware and the ZUN had other games that he did charge for.

I did, I didn't know that the Touhou games are not FTP and I was locked out before I could say so.

I could swear I've made a fuss about that Wikipedia article before. It really needs to be made clearer that all Touhou games are commercial works. In addition, I'm not sure if they should really be considered doujins since ZUN himself is a professional developer who worked for Taito.

Greeting and welcoming to the dilapidated house where we are small, elite of Brandon of Shmups11.org! Not understanding the fact that rules and the guideline of your thread, did not have our malice and tighten...it was regrettable. The magnet of the bullet has much enthusiasm, and you were scolded with very little work.

The main thing we must teach you is not not expend much energies on the illegal paypal method of Ebay which lies with the apple that rots! Many vendors there of dishonesty will attempt to overcharge you for shmup sauce, so now that the eye was opened, the safe plan which should and is warned is now rest in your capable hands!

In addition, while some shmups are as tough as nails, please avoid the fart attack! Wash your hook snake and balls with a pipe cleaner so that you do not offend your fellow shmuppers.

It was understood, now you are officially in the shmup club and therefore when preparation is possible, look at your flank and then fire on your left! Shumps11.org is there for you is Brandon, therefore the homosexual love it makes, will shock your jello count!

There are free demos for several of his games, but the full versions are not free (though they're not very expensive, usually). This is another one of those times when I wish Shoot the Core was still up...

Sooo, does he always talk like that?

Anyway I'll probably buy it when I get some cash. In the mean time does anyone know of any good FTP shmups?

x.x Game Room games are pretty up-to-Cave quality, IMHO. Oh, and they're all freeware.
Also, this guy makes some indie freeware games. Some of his collections are shmups...however, Cactus games (and indie games in general) usually have a Love It Or Hate It relationship with the vast majority of shmuppers here on this forum.
One more thing, the development forums usually have almost all freeware.

This forum (most of it, at least) has no problems with pirating via mame or console emulators but everyone is super fast to shoot down any thread even mentioning pirating doujin games and advocates buying them.

This is why you PM a mod (see BulletMagnet, he locked the thread).

The games are still doujin. The 'commercial' thing applies only when "the whole company" (i.e. if ZUN decided to incorporate himself) is commercial, like what happened to TYPE-MOON (and that was a group).

Or you could just send your game to/work with some company, like what happened to Cave Story... that pretty much kept Pixel as an indie developer anyway.

He quit around... March 2009?

People do that because large companies with old games > small-time people with games you can still buy in a store.

Also he directly asked for links. It's the same thing as directly asking for ROM links.

No it really isn't, as I have explained I was unaware of the commercial nature of the touhou games. I could not find the game anywhere for free or otherwise. Not only that but when i asked for a link i did in fact get one...to a store where i could buy the game, asking for a link does not imply asking for a ROM.

Except that he didn't know they were commercial releases as opposed to freeware.
Except that this was a response to what ncp had said and even then they're still the same thing legally good grief
This is why you PM a mod
His issue wasn't with moderation, it was with the mistaken impression that he was trying to pirate games. He was correcting the impression of the forum generally, hence the post.
There is no need to apologize by making a whole new thread.
