I knew one guy that did it like that... we laughed our asses off at him.Momijitsuki wrote:I have a picture now.Momijitsuki wrote:That's how I use it! But you really don't need access to all the buttons at the same time since games that used the stick didn't use the D-Pad or L button anyway.Neon wrote:Your way makes more sense than the usual way since you have access to all the buttons at the same time. For comfort's sake I would hold the middle and right portions since the L and Dpad are rarely used, but hey - whatever works.
Somewhat related question: Did any game use the "left" config by default? (Where you put your right hand in the middle and your left on the left prong) The only games I had that could use that was Turok, since it had a special lefty mode. It basically relocated the C button functions to the D-Pad.

Can't think of any game that used that "left" configuration as the default, but Sin and Punishment was originally planned to use that control scheme.

Laughing at myself for comparing hand size with Sik there - however it seems to me that the N64 controller is perfectly sized for his hands. My left hand has to curl around slightly more than his as my fingers are slightly shorter - makes a huge difference actually. It's comfortable enough but not as comfortable as it could be. Surprised we didn't hear complaints back in the day about the "super sized" N64 controller...remember the Xbox "Duke" complaints? The Dual Shock and Xbox style controllers work pretty well in all sizes (of hands, controllers, feet and other miscellaneous parts).
