Gunbird 2 MAME help

I just started using MAME, and mostly it has gone smoothly, but I'm having a problem with Gunbird 2 that no sites seem to list as a common bug.

My game defaults to "easy" mode with only one life. I try to restore factory defaults, but when my game resets, the old settings are still in place. I've looked all over my emulator (specifically MAMEUI64 0.136) and have found no place to set these kinds of defaults. Can anyone help me?

Try deleting the nvram file for that game in the subdirectory "NVRAM".

Awesome. That fixed it. It didn't just restore the defaults, it made it so I could actually choose what they are and they remain when I reset. Thanks!
