Guess this is a bit late, but with all the fresh fighting game talk I thought I'd talk up some thoughts on this year's EVO I watched the stream all 3 days and ate it up. So many good matches and it was exciting to see some real shining stars rising through the ranks, even beating out long running champs.

I think Clockwork's Strider/Doom was the highlight of the tournament for me. Would've loved to see him go the distance.

I was mad pumped for that, too (here's the man, flossing his EVO medal). On that note, check out some VDO matches.

Vangief and Gamerbee's matches against Justin Wong were awesome. Wong tried to make the comeback but got eliminated. Gamerbee's Adon is sick and Vangief's Zangief is serious business.

Indeed. In SSFIV, I had many faves. Aside from those you mentioned, there were many great Dahlsim players (i.e. Arturo Sanchez), and a couple solid Juri players.

Two of my favourite matches were Sanford spazzing out and I can't recall who, but a really good Yuri player (I want to say Ed Ma?) who fought great, dizzied their opponent, did her little sexy taunt and then finished them off. Awesome.

And huge props to Mike Ross, who got 4th out of the 1700 SSFIV competitors using E. Honda. Also, Ricky Ortiz making it to finally face Daigo was a shocker for me. I haven't followed his career, but that dude held it down, considering the intensity.

i also thought it was funny how he promised never to lose a tvc tourny, and kept that promise.

no surprise daigo won ssfiv. but the huge surprise was a zangief win sf2hdr. those were some serious piledrivers.

I so wanted to see Marn lose! Maybe that sounds mean, but there are so many good TVC players that I would love to see on top it just makes me groan every time I see Marn win. KBeast is a freaking monster, as is Royal Flush. Either of those guys would have had me jumping up and down cheering. I would have been equally happy to see that Yoshi something-er-other PTX player take it. I can't recall who took him out before finals, but his PTX was sicknasty and imo, way better than the PTX that made it to finals.
