Yeah, he never wanted to fess up or even check and see if what he has is a boot. It's very likely that what he has is just another boot put into the market through Cosmic. (and now I've read the thread and it was very much from Cosmic...)

I asked him more than once through PM's. He never answered me when I told him exactly how to spot if it's a boot.

8 1/2 you should CARE if it is a bootleg. You spend $300 on one but then you automatically lose money. If you don't care that it is a bootleg, at least buy one for dirt cheap like MVS carts. Excellent and Yahoo JP have been selling progears for $280-300.

Yeah, I suppose I should have shopped around, but I'm never going to part with it. I may upgrade to a full real kit someday if I have the cashflow. Right now, I simply want to play the game and I personally haven't seen many show up for less than $500 in a while. Yahoo JP is too much trouble but I suppose I should start checking out Excellent sometimes. The game is going to play the same either way, and with this at least I don't have to worry about the battery. If there's some screw-ups where the graphics are fucked or something I'll probably freak out, but if the game just simply plays like normal I'll be fine with it. I'm no collector.

Also, I like to try and give my business to forum members... :x

Who is selling Progear for $500? Only the complete US version would go that high (more likely higher).

The CPS-2 game boards are protected by a system that uses encrypted program ROM's. We believe the key data for the decryption of these ROM's is stored in low power S-RAM located inside one of the onboard custom chips. When the game board is switched off or disconnected from the main board, these custom chips are supplied by a 3,6v lithium battery. The average life span of this battery is around five to six years. Once the voltage of this battery is below 2v, the stored encryption key will be lost. The condition of this battery is not measurable due to the fact that lithium batteries will hold their voltage almost constant until the end of their life.
So eventually all Capcom CPS-2 boards will die? If I buy a Progear game, I'll never know how long it will last until it croaks, and then the hundreds of dollars I spent on it is now for a blue plastic box of death? Gosh, now I do not feel guilty at all for playing this game on my XBox instead.

and exactly why i am scared shitless about my Dimahoo that i can't test or play.

assuming the worst, how much does a Phoenix mod run (because at the very least, this is a game i hope to keep around for a long time)?
I have no sig whatsoever.

Yes eventually all Capcom CPS-2 boards will die UNLESS you change the battery. It is very easy to change the battery on the CPS2. Best thing to do is just change the battery on your board as soon as you get it, unless the seller has changed it and can give you a date. Not a big deal anymore since Raz can revive these boards.

CPS3 on the other hand has a battery that must be changed while the game IS RUNNING and if the security cart dies that is it, GG. CAPCOM themselves can revive these, but CAPCOM JP is the only one left and they will only do the JP region carts.

It's really not that dramatic, can you use a screwdriver and solder iron? Problem eliminated.

Well after repeated e-mails, I still haven't heard from him, so I have now filed for a Paypal refund. These people are a joke folks, and I would heartily recommend keeping clear of Arcadegod on ebay.
(yeah like you didn't know that already).

This is also the case for CPS1. Some can be revived with hacks, some can't. The battery must be changed while the board is under power (or with a helper battery).

Undamned once told me that it's difficult to find a working Punisher game. I guess this must be what he was talking about. It must be one of th unrevivable games....

Interestingly enough I bought a Garou:MOTW MVS cart from them that was almost completely broken in half.

They can all burn in hell.

Please keep us updated on how this goes. I can't believe that david would screw anyone over after amassing all that good feedback. David, if you read this, speak the hell up?

If no one dares to buy all those games, what is he going to do with them? Throw them in a dumpster? I was going to buy some as soon as the prices dropped and the feedback kept growing. Check arcadegods past auction to see how many are selling- he's fucked if he can't keep up the good feedback. (unless he was rich to begin with)

Concerning the Progear bootlegs, Razoola makes mention of them plus includes photos on his website http://cps2shock.retrogames.com/

I got my refund. I don't know if it's because the money was still in his account or what, but I know that there are other forum members looking into doing the same thing as I did, simply because they haven't gotten their items or even a tracking number from him. And getting him to reply to e-mails is frustrating.
I hope they get their items or a refund.

I guess I'll keep watching his ebay feedback.
As soon as it reaches 500+ and the prices drop to 200-, I'm buying everything

Boot be damned. Let me know when you "upgrade", I'll give you pretty damn close to what you paid for yours.
