Lightgun for Saturn Area 51?
So a local game shop has a Saturn copy of Area 51, which is my favorite gun game ever (the arcade version, at least). For some reason, I have it in my head that there are several types of lightgun for the Saturn, and that said game will only work with a specific one. Can anyone provide any more information on what lightgun I should be looking for to play this?

I *think* you can just use the Stunner.. Googling, I found this: http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?t=67623 .. I'd like to get Area 51 too, just for nostalgia's sake =)

Awesome, thanks. Crazy that people would still be talking about the Saturn on the official Sega forums.
Crypt Killer?! That game was almost as awesome as Area 51! This is great!

You're confusing the game with Corpse Killer. Crypt Killer (AKA in Japan as Henry Explorers) is the better lightgun shooter (although not by much IMO).

Oh yeah, it's super campy, but the arcade version took a big hold on me back in junior high. Might have just been the pump shotguns that you used. Still, it's pretty nostalgic, and if I can snag it for a few bucks I'll be happy. I'd never heard of the Japanese title before; I wonder if they were trying for some sort of Indiana Jones vibe?
And isn't Corpse Killer generally considered to be one of the worst games of that era, without even the so-bad-it's-decent appeal of the Death Crimson titles?

I actually love Henry Explorers, have the OST for it even. (Some of the music is lame of course, but Walter Tribe - if that's the right track name, and Four Guitars - ohhh yeah).Ganelon wrote:You're confusing the game with Corpse Killer. The Ray Harryhausen-style models (for the sprites) are the stars of the show; I wish games like this (and DOOM) would be redone with higher-resolution source images. The 3D backgrounds are mostly pretty bland but they try to get the job done - I kind of like the forest one. Other than that, it's a very simple lightgun shooter, and I don't think it has secrets like all the legendary hidden rooms of Area 51 (I remember finding a few in the PlayStation port, and also that a guy at Toys 'r' Us let my brother get it because I was old enough).

Are there any differences between the Saturn and PSX versions of either Area 51 or Crypt Killer? And can you play Guncon 1 games with a Guncon 2?

Just want to concur about Corpse Killer, one of the most abysmal games I have ever played, probably on par -although in defferent genres- with SF:M on Saturn.

Wow, ok I'll stay away. The YouTube vid looked pretty bad, but I thought maybe I was missing something by just watching it.KindGrind wrote:Just want to concur about Corpse Killer, one of the most abysmal games I have ever played, probably on par -although in defferent genres- with SF:M on Saturn.
All this Area 51 talk and no mention of Maximum Force or Target: Terror?
