I wonder how this will look on a big LCD screen.
excellent, just like the Arcade modes on 360's Futari or ESPGaluda2. Same resolution on those...

New like this just fills me with joy. Slowly but surely the shmups are crawling their way back into the western world. Now if we could just get a release date. Even a rough estimate from CAVE would be nice.

The release schedule will have nothing to do with Cave. It's an XBLA release so once the game is finished, it's completely up to MS when it goes up for download.

Cave have actually said it was done. Who knows when MS will put it out.

I'm well aware that with XBLA releases MS makes the final call, but I expect that date to be announced in a statement on the CAVE devblog long before any MS PR is issued about it.

Judging by the screens, they graphics are redrawn. They look much cartoonier than the original.

Those can't be in-game screens. Aside from speculations, proportions simply don't match.

Are there any in-game shots, chap? I'd guess those tutorial graphics are just played for laughs.

That tutorial screen is exactly the same as the art on the arcade instruction card.

Guwange for me has been the only Cave game I've had a hard time getting into. At first I really liked it, but soon realized I suck at it, and I have trouble controlling the guy. I will no doubt be buying this anyway to support Cave, and I do like the game.

Maybe I will be better at it using a controller, the keyboard just isn't doing it.

While some can play competently with a keyboard (hats off), I can't see myself playing shmups without a stick or a Saturn controller. Guwange is no exception.

Yeah man I just don't know, for instance I consider myself pretty good at DDP with a keyboard, but I still don't know how much better I would be with a stick. I tend to use slower ships in most games due to the fact that a keyboard is either full on or off, so with a fast ship I screw up trying to squeeze into tight spots.

I played some more Guwange today and I think this game just takes a lot more practice then most, I find it difficult to try and maneuver my guy without messing up the position of my Spirit and visa versa. I really want to like this game so I can buy it on XBLA but I just can;t for some reason. Like I said though I will buy it anyway.

A regular arcade stick is also either full on or off. 8-directional digital controls only. Of course diffrent sticks, pads and keyboards have different feel to them.

i think what he is trying to say is that you cant get those little "taps" with a keyboard that you get with an arcade stick or joypad. i ve used a keyboard a few times and i definatly understand how he feels like it is less precise for the smaller adjustments.

What I'm trying to say is that different keyboards have different qualities, just like different sticks and joypads.

Yeah, keyboards can be used very efficiently. IIRC, Prometeus' 500M Dodonpachi run was done with one.

You gotta use what feels better for you. Different drinks for different... needs.

Dual stick controls would be pretty cool for an arrange mode or something.

Not sure if this pic confirms it, but I seriously hope its not dual analog thumb-sticks only.

I remember that they said when they first announced it there would be direct ports of both the original and blue label versions, as well as a new 360 exclusive arrange mode, and only the last one uses dual sticks.

Dave's link specifically states the right analogue is for moving the Shikigami (only in Arrange Mode).
