Cave games on MAME

Post by PinkSweets »

I know similar posts have probably been made dozens of times before but I want to know the answer to this if anybody can help.

Is there a reason why games like Ketsui, DDP DOJ, Espgaluda, Mushihimesama, and Ibara aren't available on MAME yet?

I've heard that Ketsui and DeathSmiles have been dumped, but never released. I don't know how true this is, but someone said that Cave didn't want them to emulate it just yet. I mean, Ketsui along with the 4 Cave shooters that were released on PS2, are all 5-8 years old now. Is there a chance for them being available on MAME soon? I just started using MAME much more recently than I ever did in the past and would love it that much more if at least these 5 titles came. I probably wouldn't bother much about getting another Japanese 360 either.

And lastly, I'd like to say that I don't expect some of the later releases yet, obviously, such as Mushi Futari, DeathSmiles, Pink Sweets, DDP DFK, etc. on MAME.

It would be nice to see other titles such as Senko No Ronde SP from GRev.

I want ma torrent dammit!

If I remember correctly there a quite a few technical difficulties with decryption on Ketsui at least, and the guys at mame (guru or whoever it is) don't release games that's still "active" in the arcades. Cave itself don't have anything do to with mame.

Ketsui just got a console release so regardless of the actual age of the game, I'd say the chances of it appearing it MAME anytime soon are somewhere between jack and shit.
Feedback will set you free.

A MAME driver exists for the SH-3 hardware (CV1000 or whatever you want to call it, i.e. Mushihimesama through DeathSmiles), but isn't public. The author says it's too slow to be playable anyway, which is plausible considering that the CPU on that board is rated for 133MHz (IIRC).

Senko no Ronde SP is apparently already in MAME but probably runs terrible.

No Rob, resist those impure urges! Take up a string of Reflector Beads and shout "Hail Marion!" ten times (allowing for a few seconds of recharge time between each shout) until the evil flashing purple bullets clouding your mind have been canceled into experience cubes!

Ok, first couple 5: all but Ketsui [which doesn't have a PS2 port] work fine in PCSX2. DOJ is probably going to run the best out of all of them.
Senko No Ronde works fine in NullDC/Naomi, even on my really crappy computer with integrated video.
In fact, it's the only game that runs fullspeed for me [and there is no frameskip AFAIK]. Get the MAME CHD, and follow any instructions you find on how to convert it for NullDC.

Also, follow this advice. Everyone should go play Mars Matrix.

As a matter of fact, I've owned 6 of their games.
Anyway, I don't have any problem with buying a physical copy, but if something is on MAME, great. Job or not, doesn't change anything. All I wanted was a little information. Thanks to the few people who helped.

Minuscule demand I guess. I think the real question is: why doesn't MAME do FREE SEX™ yet?

They wouldn't be special in that regard. MAME supports hundreds of games that are less than 10 years old right now, and more that were less than 10 years old when they were added (e.g. pretty much the whole Neo-Geo library).

No they didn't because the MAME guys don't distribute non-PD roms with their software. The rom dumps are created by owners of the hardware and come from all over the place. Cave would have no idea who these people are (though I suppose they could blanket some of them by contacting the arcades they supply to)
