Wait a second. I'm not going to go off and defend Japanese men, but I'm most certainly not going to defend all, or even the majority of Japanese women in a broad-stroking manner either. In my experience in making observations in public, doing a homestay, teaching English in a corporate setting, working in a corporate setting, and having many friends that have married into the gene pool, I can honstly say the women can be just as cold-hearted and maybe even more sinister than the men.Marriage is a social contract, as well as a religious institution. Sure, there are loveless marriages. Especially when arranged marriages are involved. Japanese men can sure be pathetic regardless.
On that note, I'd say the whole omiai thing making marriages loveless is more of a chicken and the egg scenario. Omiai is amazingly rare these days, but I could apparently throw a rock and hit someone in a sexless/loveless marriage.
