I'm pretty sure it's 300 mil in the Japanese version as well. At least according to the thread at cave-stg.

Its actually 500 million on the JPN version, and I'm guessing it may be exactly the same on the US one, unless they decided to lower it for whatever reason.
I was talking about beating the TLB.

Defeat Bloody Jitterbug in MBL is 100 gp in the Japanese version.

GameSpot still hasn't reviewed this game. I still hold that I predict somewhere between 6.5-7.0. Maybe they finally ragequit reviewing shmups.

Ah, cool. Seems like it's worth far more than that though.

They didn't review Castle Shikigami 3 or Raiden IV. They have stopped reviewing shmups.

Also, it came! It finally came! After everyones reactions to it, I thought level one would be a breeze. I died three times before reaching the castle due to not paying attention on my first credit. My second credit saw me just past the wave of deathscythes. My third credit added in some level 2 and saw me through to the ballroom. I've been on vacation and haven't played a shmup in 2 weeks, and it shows.

I'll make that 13 if EBgames ever phones me about my pre-order like they said they would. I'll just have to go bust some heads in person.

On the plus side, I found out where my Xbox is, so I can retrieve it if I really can't wait a few more months.

Just got this in from GameFly. Imagine everyone is enjoying it.

Tips?

Grabbed a few achievements earlier. Definite just credit fed for a while. Not sure I understand the counter system, so if anyone can clear that up, I'd appreciate it.

For some reason I'm not getting the achievements for staying/leaving the real world.

What game mode are you playing? DS's achievements are really picky; I think the stay/return achievements have to be done on the original Deathsmiles Arcade or 360 modes.

Cave-stg has a good scoring guide.

You are correct. I had a few friends complaining about this as well and they were playing like MBL1.1 and stuff, but it has to be 360 or arcade mode.

Considering the scores and difficult change drastically it would be totally gay for the achivements to work across the board. Are you gay?

Also, they won't unlock if you restart any stages (I missed this at first). However, continues are allowed on most of them.

It just arrived. Yay. Someone managed to fuck up the box. I'm tempted to bitch at GameStop just for the sake of hassling GameStop, except that it would probably end up being more of a hassle for me.

Make sure you haven't changed any of the Game Options from their defaults. Changing any of those makes you ineligible to earn the majority of achievements.

Except for the stuff like character endings or the grind achievements which you can credit feed to get anyway. I assumed I had stuff like the absorb X suicide bullets or destroy the car X times for almost a year, until I played a few rounds of arcade mode last month and they popped up on me (I was always more of a MBL/1.1 person) Not to mention shit like how the 1.1 1cc achievement can't be unlocked in score attack mode.

Not saying you're wrong, I think I'm a little bi-curious is all.

Just got my first OCC on Arcade mode, using Casper. Feels good man. Came down to the last bomb on my last life, I dunno how I'm every going to figure out tyrannosatan's patterns after the one with the big blue seals.

Now I need to work on this score...72,522,733 is a new best for me but doesn't seem very good.

This 360 visuals are pretty bad, blurry, awkward, pre-rendered sprites and low-res backgrounds. If they're going to move away from bold, hand drawn pixel art they need to step up the quality. I like the game, but I honestly can't stand looking at it. The problem's not so much in the design, but the presentation. Do the "enhanced" visuals in Futari and Espgaluda fare any better?

I have no idea what you're talking about since nearly every Cave game in existence uses pre-rendered visuals.

I don't agree on the sprites - I think they look fine. It's not the best modeling work ever but they do great considering the small team and small budget they run on. I do think the fact the sprites are so much larger in Deathsmiles than their other games hurt them a bit, especially when they didn't really model them with more than 240p resolution in mind.

Futari and Espgaluda 2 are exactly the same in the regard that they use higher resolution foreground sprites but the original low resolution backgrounds. They still look fantastic.

For the love of God I can't find the clip of Tobias buying the wig from the tranny.

Same here. Curious about what screen it's being played on... and how anyone would prefer it over Arcade mode.
