There's an excerpt in there about buying a game to get a coupon, returning it, and re-buying with a coupon. What a shitty thing to advocate. Shame, I really like Kotaku but that's just poor.

Re: Kotaku :(
Kotaku sucks anyway.
The news are slow as fuck and they don't always get their facts straight.

Re: Kotaku :(
I swear a lot of it is just pulled from forum posts etc.
Re: Kotaku :(
Nobody likes Brotaku.
Re: Kotaku :(
I read Kotaku because they're one of the only sites to even cover shmup news at all, and because they have a much higher quality of comments compared to just about any other site I've seen and I enjoy reading the comments occasionally.
Are there any other game news sites that fit this criteria that anyone would recommend? I just don't see what's so bad about Kotaku. They're occasionally a few hours or maybe a day late with some news, so what? And I don't often notice errors, but they tend to be corrected quickly and the comments almost always have corrections if any are warranted.

If you want really fast gaming news, i recommend NeoGAF, even though it's a forum.
Personally i like gonintendo, too.

The internet means never having to do your own research.

Destructoid ftw
Re: Kotaku :(
Kotaku is owned by the "journalism only by accident" folks at Gawker Media. (i.e. Nick Denton)
More about the game of "big blogging."
True-slant on the "4chan-ization" of Gawker. Priceless!
There was a pretty funny insider's look at Gawker Media and Nick Denton (I swear he's the third brother in Deus Ex, though he acts more like a character out of Bioshock...or Citizen Kane) around the webs somewhere, but I can't find it again.

I believe you're looking at it. Shmup news is pretty light and when something eventually does happen, someone posts it here within a few hours, plus you get the witty commentary and bitching only true shmup fans can provide. Be it subpar translations or games that we complain for years are never ported then when they finally do we bitch about the port quality or lose interest in it after a week, we're on the ball.kengou wrote:I read Kotaku because they're one of the only sites to even cover shmup news at all, and because they have a much higher quality of comments compared to just about any other site I've seen and I enjoy reading the comments occasionally.
