Do you feel you need to get the player agreement to upload his run on youtube/mediafire?
I think about the INP availables here or at MARP and that some people could be interested in to watch on youtube.
I've wondered about this after watching recent SSK DonPachi replay on wolfmame(which is the new #1 score here btw) and wanted to upload it on youtube.
There are basically no videos on youtube about Donpachi(barely) and I must not be the only one who have searched for them.
Pretty sure plenty other games availables only through INP that people would like to watch.
What is the general consensus about that?
Do people only post their run and other runs after contacting the player?
Or would players be happy to see their run uploaded(it's a tedious work)?

Re: thoughts on uploading others play
As long as you give them credit, most players will probably be happy to have their runs posted (some of those japanese players are really fuckin' weird about it though). But then again, asking isn't very hard via PMs, so why not just get permission?
Re: thoughts on uploading others play
It definitely would be best to get permission. It's not just the Japanese, and it's certainly not just playing video games well.
Re: thoughts on uploading others play
The player has no copyright on it. If the video has been put out at some point it's public. Of course, the player should always be credited.
DVD superplays are different, released for retail.

Re: thoughts on uploading others play
I uploaded my video to superplay. (Is superplay dead now? I can't upload anything to their ftp anymore.) I have no idea who uploaded my video to nico, youtube, google videos and a few other chinese websites. I don't think people who make their replays public would care where it gets uploaded as long as they get credit for the play.
Hopefully one day BGR-44 will upload his 65M donpachi replay. Then we can really see how to get the capacity bonus on 2-3 and beyond.
DBS and WTN will probably never release their 70M+ replays.

Re: thoughts on uploading others play
ok I think a good compromise is to:
-give credit and infos to the player(obv)
-PM the player and inform him you uploaded his replay with the links.
_notice in the PM that the player has the choice the video being removed.
This is the best solution especially if the player is not available/scrolling the boards, allowing us to upload the replay without waiting months for a possible answer.
There are tons of interesting replays available but not everyone has all the tools to view them.
