But then the girls always get into it (every last one of them secretly loves being molested/raped) and a huge train-wide orgy starts on the spot, right? That's how everything always happens in Japan, right?

10 years ago or so I heard the Japanese railways introduced special pink cars only for the ladies so they can avoid unwelcome frotteurism. Maybe that's where they keep said monster.

I'm sure there's a doujinshi out there depicting exactly that.

They have something similar in Manila. Women only cars.

No. We were busy jacking off to the thought of an 8-cocked monster raping Japanese schoolgirls in random trains.

The bus I rode up to the countryside had a "women's only" seat section. That was new. I guess Japanese guys are such leches that they just won't leave the poor girls alone. I once got onto the "women's only" car by mistake in Tokyo, but I didn't really care. Nobody said anything, and I just figured, "Hey, I'm not an undersexed Japanese guy. I'm safe."

I don't believe it's because they are Japanese. Rather it's the notoriously crowded public transport thing. Of course men are less likely to fall victim to such harassment, thus we can comfortably belittle the problem as long as we don't do it ourselves and no one casts a slur on us. Commuting women all over the world are in better position to judge how serious the shit is.

I don't suppose you've been to Japan, have you? I have to disagree. Groping in Japan is notoriously rampant. The culture here is different. Japanese men are too shy to give their wife a flower on their birthday or even tell them "I love you", but they won't hesitate to grope some woman on the subway. I had a friend who got groped at a convenience store when she was making photo copies. She was a caucasian from Pennsylvania, and usually that would deter Japanese men---but not this guy. The sad thing is that she tried to pursue justice, and the Japanese police really couldn't give a crap. If it was America, maybe it would've been taken seriously. But the Japanese attitude towards women, even though it is slowly changing for the better, has been rooted in a long history of male chauvinism and a view of women that they are merely objects. Yes, the West is guilty of the same, however we've always had chivalry to balance it. The feminist movement in Japan has to pick its battles carefully, especially since Japan isn't the culture to stand up, shout, and be heard.

I imagine that if some women got groped on a subway in America, all she'd have to do is say, "This man groped me!" and there would be those witnesses who would come to the rescue. Chivalry. Am I wrong? Or are women getting groped left and right in America and Europe? If GP or somebody can prove me wrong, I'm ready to listen.

I'm no expert, but off the cuff I'd say that a woman's chances of getting recognition/justice for a sexually-based offense around here are inversely proportional to how serious the offense is. On the one hand it seems to me that if a guy looks at a woman the wrong way or says something lewd he'll be sued to kingdom come and demonized up and down the street...but then again you hear about plenty of women whose husbands/boyfriends rape and beat them on a regular basis, but they refuse to report the crime or press charges, and even insist that "he's a good guy, I love him" if someone else says something and the cops try to haul him off. Maybe it's just the stuff I hear, but that's the way it sometimes comes off.

What has marriage to do with love? Now that's off-topic. Are Japanese husbands even supposed to express any affection towards their Japanese wives?
greg wrote:Or are women getting groped left and right in America and Europe?
Aren't they? Ask women. Maybe so called "victim" types experience it more often, but I don't think it's all that uncommon.

P.S. Conviction rate in Japan is nearly 100%. Japanese authorities probably don't fuck about with accusations without solid proofs (such as photo made with a cel phone).

I thought that the point of two people getting married was because they want to spend their lives together. So I guess yes, there should be some affection in a normal marriage, regardless of nationality.

In some cultures marriage isn't exactly about what people getting married WANT.
Specineff wrote:So I guess yes, there should be some affection in a normal marriage, regardless of nationality.
The question being: whether expressing this affection is culturally endorsed?

He was interrogated for more than 6 hours based on accusations from a bunch of drunk college students and asked to come back for more the next day. The police weren't serious enough?

Marriage is a social contract, as well as a religious institution. Sure, there are loveless marriages. Especially when arranged marriages are involved. Japanese men can sure be pathetic regardless.

The conviction rate in Japan is a joke that isn't funny. Japanese have a cultural notion of, "Well, he MUST be guilty, otherwise he wouldn't be in court, would he?" Amnesty International and other global civil rights groups have been pushing for reform in Japan for a while now

Anyhow, we're veering way off topic about future predictions, so I apologize.

Whether he would have actually ended up in the court remains unknown. Maybe once you get charged in Japan you're screwed, but, come to think of it, that's precisely why Japanese prosecutors must be rather picky. It's not like the state benefits greatly from the high conviction rate as such. Today's Japan is not the USSR during the reign of Stalin.

That explains a lot about the Phoenix Write games (a guilty pleasure of mine; I know they are absurdly dumb and require almost no skill, but I enjoy them anyway).

Phoenix Wright games give actually a pretty accurate image of the Japanese justice system, believe it or not.
Besides, how is that a guilty pleasure? The Gyakuten Saiban series is awesome!

Marriage is ownership of women. Except in cultures undergoing pussification, where it has become ownership of men. Some signs of the pussification process is a widespread lesbian trend of less body hair, fewer beards etc.

Molestation (in the groping sense) and harassment are probably the more common crimes - without witnesses or evidence, there is no case. Some random guy says "I want to put my balls inside you" or squeezes a random body part and walks off. What the fuck do you do in response? You just take it, and go home and cry.

Anyone close to being a pretty princess has something like that happen to them at least once.

Shit just watch this training video it'll make you feel better about the universe.

Maybe you can watch it together with your coworkers, and pause it right after that scene and then bat your eyes at the other guys?

yo, why are hardworking japanese businessmen always taking heat for groping? i have read numerous stories in which trains FULL of VICIOUS OFFICE LADIES assaulted and gangraped cute little boys on their way to and from school, that shit's just wrong, a little squeeze of the ass is nothing compared to that

The greater of two evils hardly validates the lesser one. "Put up and shut up - it could be worse" would be pretty poor advice to give someone just because their gruesome would-be rapists only had the balls to snatch an anonymous feel on the train. :P

I think the reason groping isn't as common in the West is because retaliation is likely. Either the woman will karate chop you into pieces or her man will knock the **** out of you.
